I don’t have much of a career to speak of. That’s ok. I’m social worker but realised quite quickly in working life that I’m not cut out for it. I managed for 3 years in the field. Now I I’ve been on a looong sick leave due to mental health issues and other shit. Not going back to social field work. Don’t know yet what I could do instead.
I manage a restaurant, have been with the same employer for almost 18 years. We don’t serve alcohol, so that’s good, but had to take 5 months off when I got sober to reset my lifestyle and solidify my resolve. Had a solid program when I went back and am still sober almost 3.5 years later.
Sales director
Selling consumer memory storage to regions of Australia , New Zealand and more.
Mysteries, women’s fiction, young adult, back to mysteries. I’m all over the place!
Have you been busy lately down there in Mass? We’ve been swamped with re-fis and now purchases. I think everyone is moving to VT to get away from COVID. Jokes on them. It’s here now with a vengeance!
We are nation wide but yes it’s crazy down here in MA. Turns times have tripled. This Covid mess isn’t helping things that’s for sure. Just another excuse for things to take even longer
I work in mental health services to support individuals with autism or other impairments, i also train new starters regionally on how to support people better and provide best practice
I’m a geographic information systems (GIS) analyst. Basically, I show data and analysis on maps to help visualize it better than looking at text or numbers. It’s a very fulfilling career and I couldn’t see myself doing anything else.
I studied geoinformatics too. I moved to a different occupation afterwards, but I’m glad you like it!
Like @Peace I’m a mental health RN. I’m working in assisted living for elder folks with mostly psychiatric diseases as well as physical problems. I went to nursing school 15 years ago because I wanted to work in addiction care, but somehow I ended up where I am now. I like it but would still like to work with/treat addictions. But going into group therapy for the next year first to work on my own mental health problems.
Maybe I can help you with that. I work with people who work with people with opiate addictions at the GGD. I PM you tomorrow alright?
I had to google that. It came up “A skyline painter” in English.
In Dutch that’s a wolkenfietser, one who cycles on clouds
Well sure, I’d like to hear from you.
I am in corporate sales. Have been for 23 years. Started selling technical furniture at the beginning of the tech boom. Then moved into telecom selling internet connectivity and private data networks. Then I moved into equipment sales, routers, switches, firewalls and data storage. Left that industry and moved into office supplies, mostly cleaning and breakroom. That’s where I am, today. I sell coffee machines and supplies to corporations and high end residential properties, furniture, PPE, etc.
Someday in the near future I hope to become a martial arts instructor, open my own school, and teach for the rest of my days.
I love the variety of jobs…
Its fun!
I’m an English language teacher in Spain. I teach adults at university, but not only students --anyone can take these classes. I enjoy it, as I’m good at it and have enough experience now that I’m never caught at a loss with them. To me, it’s a pleasure to see people learn.
I agree its pretty cool to learn about other fields
Congrats! That’s an awesome feeling.
I haven’t worked in a few years… The felonies on my record make it difficult to find work here. But I am an unpaid caretaker for my mom, which is a full-time job, really. I’m grateful that I’m sober and decent enough of a human being now to be able to do it.
I hope you enjoy your new job and everything goes really well
I fix and make passenger trains for a living. Been doing that for 4 years. I also rejoined the National Guard and am currently overseas on a 9 month tour in a Middle Eastern country (no where dangerous. Once was enough for me lol).
