It is so cool to see all these different jobs!
I’m an editor and I loooove my work! It took a lot of jobs I didn’t love to get here My clients are all lovely and I learn new things every day. Like others have said, working for yourself means not really ever having days off, but there’s still flexibility, and for me it is all so, so worth it.
Being able to care for a family member is rewarding and a full time job, you dont get paid in dollars just satisfaction
I’m a gypsy of sorts, I’ve had many hats.
Machinist, Auto tech, Paramedic,911 dispatcher. security
Currently trying to dip my toes back into law enforcement. I’ve heard mixed results my therapist says yes. People in my home group tell me do it we need police that understand addiction and others ask me if I’m suicidal insane or looking to relapse.
OP you do it if you feel comfortable and confident it wont steer you down relapse road. Dont let the past predict your future
I’ve been in the manufacturing field for about 11 years now. Started as just a basic operator. I moved up to lead for about 4 years. They sent me to a sister company to help out. While on vacation…6 hours north. They asked if I could come back. No one talked to me from Monday to Thursday. Finally i was asked to take over supervisor of 3rd shift the following week. I said yes. I lasted a year because my drinking took control and I couldnt do my job. So I asked for a demotion back to operator. In the mean time I sobered up. Wife had gotten pregnant with our 2nd child. I lasted there another 2 or 3 years before I realized the company wasnt for me anymore.
Kept then job but started looking around. I applied for a supervisor helper… I’m guessing it was supposed to be lead person. I did the interview and they ended asking me if I wanted to be the 2nd shift supervisor. Felt like I couldn’t turn it down. I was sober 2 years at that point and a baby on the way. I’d like to think it was some type of reward from my Higher Power. I’m still with the company-supervising a 10hr shift made up of 2nd and 3rd shift. I’ve taken on and have been involved in a lot more than my previous job. STILL SOBER!
