Wild animals we adore

Is this the animal that several years ago you were sending off the picture to a university or something for ID. I may have the story all wrong, something similar to that though.

@Shel75 that’s a hornets nest I believe.
Sometimes ( usually ) in the ground.
Grandaddy long legs are harmless even though they do have a toxin just not much @Just_Laura
I live w scorpions. I relocate them frequently. Once I had one in my mouth!
Last week a friend put her shoes on, ran errands around town for two hours, walked into produce dept at the grocery store and got stung in her shoe. The docile creature had been in her shoe all that time.
I could be wrong on all this. I didn’t fact check it.
Assassin beetles ( kissing bugs) can be the worst.

Nice memory :ok_hand:
The phascogale was an easy ID, so I think the one you thinking of is the Bettong as we sent pics off for confirmation with Lands and Wildlife. They flip flopped a bit before saying it wasn’t, but we are positive we have seen others since but not on camera.

I’m still going Red Tailed/Rough Legged Hawk.

Looks so much like a European Buzzard. Rough Legged Hawk could very well be right

That’s exactly what I thought.

A falcon of some sort? Hawk and falcon are related words, but I don’t know if there are ornithological differences between them.

My most frequent input says red-tailed, Coopers or a rough legged hawk.
He was a big guy and his visit made my morning.

The wild turkeys in our cities are attacking the Mail Carriers…

From our local news…

“The turkeys are such an issue in one northeast Minneapolis neighborhood they have prompted a letter to United States Postal Service customers. According to the letter, wild turkeys are aggressively pursuing USPS drivers. The letter advises customers to chase them off and to avoid feeding the animals.”
May include: A 3 cent United States postage stamp featuring a brown wild turkey in flight with the words 'WILDLIFE CONSERVATION' and 'WILD TURKEY' printed in brown. The stamp also features a brown tree and the words 'UNITED STATES POSTAGE' printed in brown.
