Yea the disc has names and distances of the things you can see from the top. On a clear day anyway!

Have seen them in quite a few places round here, it’s nice.

Woof. Tons of trail closures this morning due to mountain lion sightings meant some extra miles today. Was there early though, and the weather is finally cooled of, so can’t really complain. The detouring put me on the same trail as a good friend from work and his family, all bright eyed and bushy tailed. :chipmunk:

Long walk. Started early going through the red light district, it’s nice and quiet between 4 am and 9 am or so.The girls are asleep and the tourists are in a coma. Walked down to touristic hotspot Zaanse Schans to the North and back till I was too tired and took the subway home.

5.3 mile hike today. 1,542ft elevation gain lasted 1:48:03 with no stops. Dang I’m tired but that was great. The sun was out, shining bright the whole time with little wind, so it was definitely a sweaty kind of afternoon haha

Yikes that sounds intense!

Anybody use Strava to track their walks?

I use to walks, runs and bike rides

Got about 15 miles in yesterday although didn’t track it so not sure of exact details. Took about 5h30, slower than expected but I stopped to chat to a few of the river folk (on their canal boats) and it got really overgrown towards the end. Felt ok but it was mainly a flat route, need to get some more hill practice in for the peak district challenge. I’m going to see how I get on over the next couple of weeks but might downgrade from the 75km to the 50km distance.

I was using Map My Walk. I don’t do runs or bike rides :see_no_evil:

When I downloaded it I looked at Strava and they didn’t have an option to track walks. But sounds like they do now!

I think sometimes that’s just what I need :grinning:

We have a whole thread dedicated to Strava. It’s called… wait for it… waiiiit…

The Strava Thread

Arrogant and cocky response as always.

I was asking a general question on a walking topic if people use Strava to plot their walks

Wait… Wait for it… :fu:t2:

Yes, I use Strava for my walks. Especially if I go off trail hiking. Primarily I use it for biking, but it has like 30+ activities you can log, including cc skiing and swimming.

For anyone who likes to climb peaks or highpoints, you can log all your info here.

About 12 miles in today. Scrumped some corn that was growing on the footpath, saw some cows paddling in the river (picture taken on zoom when I got far enough past :see_no_evil:) and got a bit of a hill walk in. Think I will be downgrading to the 50km distance and that will be enough of a challenge.

The view from the top of a tower on my afternoon hike, a relaxed 4-5 miles.

Some snaps from the Peak District Challenge

Glad I ended up doing the 50km instead of the 75km, no way could I have done an extra 12 hours walking! The 50k was hard but just about enjoyable thanks to my former colleague who I did it with, and the other three people in our walking group. The weather was gorgeous but not too hot. It was absolutely beautiful.

Brill. Recognise many of those places :grinning:

Was it yesterday? I did a 7 mile walk with the girls over Bradwell moor and there were people competitively walking, running and mountain biking

It was yesterday although I’m sure there were other events on too. The one we were doing (Peak District Challenge) had runners and walkers, started and finished in Hathersage. It was really lovely. I’d like to move to the peak district one day.
