I really loved taking some time to work on the foundation and I noticed the difference in the class I went to on Sunday.

Day 7 Dedicate done. Sun salutations :sun_with_face:

Just finished Day 3 of Dedictate: Observe. Was kinda weird to not finish the practice lying down with a Savasana. So many gems in this video but my favourite was when she talked about loving yourself through the fall without shame or embrassment :sparkling_heart: when you fall in yoga, you get back up! So simple but so powerful

Day 8 is Meditate. I was SO distracted this morning, my mind would not quiet down. But I showed up and did it.

Day 4 Dedicate: Feel was great! I definitely feel my abs. Most helpful take-away: you are responsible for your own happiness both on and off the mat :slightly_smiling_face:

Owning your emotions is so important! That goes for the bad ones as much as the good

This is the first time in this challenge I’ve got on the mat in a good mood and it has made me feel even better

Thanks @siand you’re so right. It’s about about balance, the good with the bad, ying and yang, you really can’t have one without the other! It’s in all of us. If you learn to accept that, it gets easier to ride this thing called life. Also love your dedication. Last night was date night so today I will continue to Dedicate!

Continuing the discussion from 30 day challenges:

I love this thread! I haven’t touched alcohol in almost 2 weeks and it’s usually now when I start getting cravings. I started the 30 day challenge 2 days ago and besides being completely knackered - it’s really helping me stay motivated! Thank you for posting this and everybody for posting your progress as it’s really helped. I’ve never been an every day type of drinker - I’m more of a binge drinker over the weekend. Usually after the second week of being sober I get bored and go back to old habits but trying to get back in shape is really helping. This is the first time I post but I’m already very thankful to all of the people that posted as it’s really given me motivation to pursue the challenge and to stick with it. I want to make many changes in my life and I know that I need to go slowly so I don’t set myself up for failure. Working out is helping me focus on my sobriety
Right now I can only do 100 push ups but hopefully I’ll be able to do 150 before the end of the challenge. :muscle:

“Only” one hundred pushups. :star_struck: That’s awesome!

Welcome to the thread. I know it did me a world of good. Mind, body, heart and soul. All connected and all mutually reinforcing for a stronger sober life.

Day 5: Flow in the books! I really liked how she talked about trusting that you will see the benefits of showing up for your practice. All you have to do is be present and commit. The rest will work it’s magic. This can too so easily be applied to sobriety!

So, I’ve been considering giving yoga a try for quite some time (figuring it might do me some good in managing my anxiety)…but it was another one of those things that never got followed through on because of the alcoholism rollercoaster.

Now that I am on the wagon, and trying to heal and strengthen my body rather than poisoning it, it seemed like the PERFECT time to finally try it. Especially when I saw y’all talking about Dedicate, which is just so appropriate for this journey!

So I began doing the challenge, and I am SO SO glad I did (and thanks to y’all for pointing me in that direction)!!! Today was my 4th day, though I opted to repeat Day 3: Observe, because I was kind of rushed yesterday and that kind of seemed to defeat the purpose lol! I’m feeling great, it’s already definitely helping me on AND off the mat, and I super look forward to my practice every day…and it is such a nice feeling to look forward to something other than what time I can start drinking!

Girlll @JenLouiseLB that is amazing!! Good for you. Honestly yoga has so helped me get out of my own head and really put things in perspective! It’s really one of the best things you can do for your mind, body and soul. I love that you made the conscious effort to repeat Day 3 too. You’re really getting in touch and listening to your body. Bravo!! Keep us updated on your practice

I do like the idea of taking responsibility for your own happiness and sometimes it really works for me. When I am going through a period of depression, not so much as I use that kind of thinking as a stick to beat myself with 🤦😂

But yes to balance and acceptance to help with the ride. Yoga is definitely good for this!

My thoughts exactly!! @Athina that is awesome

Day 11 - Courage done :ballot_box_with_check:

This was all about balance. I kept forgetting to breathe :joy: This is the 3rd YWA 30 day challenge I’ve done and it’s the first time I’ve got through a balance sequence without falling over. I was pretty wobbly but upright! Just goes to show if you keep turning up and putting the work in, over time things will get better

Thank you, and yes ma’am I definitely will! Even though we are all on different days, I love that we are on this journey together…she talks about that a lot, the connectedness of others doing this with us. I love reading everyone’s updates, and feeling that energetic connection to each other!
