I’ve recently decided to take a step back from AA as the program is no longer resonating with me. It helped me immensely to quit alcohol and I have made a couple good connections that I can utilize if needed.
I’m wondering if people can share other recovery programs/models they have used that has helped. I’m hoping this thread can be useful for others who are no longer wanting to attend AA.
I like Recovery Dharma. This from the opening statement of the meetings:
We have found a guide for our recovery in the Buddhist teachings of the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path, and we invite you to investigate these practices and principles as tools for your own path of liberation from the suffering of addiction. We understand that this is not the only path to recovery and many may choose to combine these practices with other recovery programs.
I like the practical way Buddhism looks at how we can live our lives better. And I especially like this last sentence, the acknowledgement that there are more ways towards recovery and we all have to find our own way.
