I got the Wheel of Time series for Christmas. I’ve tried starting it a few times but did so when drinking so I’d always have to start over because I forgot what I read. I’m going to start it up again soon though
i just finished ‘a man called ove’ and it was pretty good. most of my book club loved it.
i just started a book called ‘we need to talk about kevin’ and yowsers, its really messing with my dreams! its pretty dark and intense.
I saw that movie deff dark.
I have been reading a ton of Flannery O’Connor. Just finishing up “Wise Blood” - amazing stuff.
i have yet to watch it. i will when i’m done reading. tilda swinton seems to be appropriately cast.
Excellent book. I highly recommend it. Also, check out the Discipline Equals Freedom Field Manual, by Jocko as well.
One of many books I picked up over the years and never read. Not only is it short stories but the background of why it wasn’t published and letters back and forth between F. Scott Fitzgerald.
I love it! And will do, thank you for the recommendation😄
Do you listen to the Jocko Podcast?
I’ve had the privilege of hearing Michael Franzese speak on two occasions, and recently met with him for a few minutes. His story of redemption is most inspiring.
I dont, is it on Spotify?
It’s everywhere. The Jocko Podcast
Been listening since 2017. Really helped me during my first 6 months of sobriety. I’d hit play and walk in the mornings and evenings.
Thank you, ill definitely take a listen
That sounds wonderful. I’ve been reading A LOT lately so throwing a podcast in the mix would be a nice change. I like having the book to write and highlight in, it helps me retain the information. But keeping a notebook while listening should suffice.
While he makes references to this book and others, the book is like 5% of what Jocko is about. Some episodes he covers books he’s reading. Sometimes he’s having discussions with his partners at Echelon Front. Sometimes he’s interviewing badass warriors. The message is discipline and determination are the keys to overcoming challenge.
Right in line with my current desire to learn more principles and how to apply them to my life. Thank you
