Any Avid Readers Here? What are you currently reading?

Nowadays I read a lot. Took about 2,5 years of sobriety before I could concentrate on reading. Recently this as an audio book (in Finnish). Almost 40 hours finished and part two waiting :cold_sweat:

The Nightingale was the most incredible book I have read, possibly ever. This one is deeply moving and its breaking my heart.

I agree. I still think about that book. Beautiful but incredibly sad.

The Great Alone was also one of my favorites of hers

My favorite book is “Mountains Beyond Mountains” by Tracy Kidder.
It is about Paul Farmer, a doctor who set out to do as much as he could to try to save people’s lives and bring Health care to them. He died February 21, 2022 at age 62.
He was one of my heroes.
RIP Paul Farmer. Thank you for your life’s work that has helped so many and will continue on forever.

Mountains beyond Mountains is a Haitian phrase that means once you are over one hurdle there will be another … and then another.

My second favorite book is the same book that @Mno posted not that many posts up.
“Over the Edge, Death in the Grand Canyon”
I feel like everybody should read it if they even step one step into the Grand Canyon. I feel like the Park service should give a synopsis of the book as people check in. Actually they do give advice. The number one cause of death in the Grand Canyon is people falling over the edge of the canyon either by taking selfies, having their picture taken or being otherwise unsafe.

Ahhhh, my people! I try to read a book every 3 days or so but have been stuck on Hawaii by Michener for a month or so. It was one of my Dad’s favorite books and I lost him to Covid in 2020. I’m also reading Crying in H Mart. Reading this thread I took 100 screenshots for my ever growing to be read list. :books::books::heart:

My all time favorite book since I was 14 and always will be…The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Yea I know that sounds cliché but I have always loved it…so much so that my English teacher freshman year thought that I had cheated and also read the Cliff-notes to it. Yet, I have just finally gotten my leather bound, limited edition, F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby and other works book in the mail today and it is gorgeous!

That’s an excellent read!

Oh wow, Stella! That looks like a good one. I finally checked out When Things Fall Apart, started reading it, then just decided to buy a copy. Lots of good stuff from Pema and Thich.

I can’t seem to get into any books for fun or escape or fiction or my favorite, biographies.

But I’m enjoying the heck out of this one in the morning. I can’t wait to read it each morning. I pray I’ll someday get back to reading just for escape.
