Hi Kate, do you like it so far? I have that book but haven’t started it yet.

I like a lot of it. I’m only about halfway through. She has a lot of good research and data included which is nice. I think it’ll be one of those I take what I like and leave the rest.

I love Carl Hiassen and Tom Robbins. I’ll add James Hall to my to be read list. I have to Overstory on my to be read shelf and I’m excited to start it when I have a little less life chaos.

This was one of the books that set me on a solid path back after my 1st husband died. Good stuff, at least back when I read it.

My absolute favorite recovery lit!!!

@Soberbilly , I am a HUGE TC Boyle fan as well. I loved Tom Robbin books when I read them as a younger person.

You’ll have to read it to find out what it is

Yeah, it was really insightful for me. I want to read it again actually, the physical book this time, the first time was using audible.

What’s your favourite book @SassyRocks ? Or, top 3 if you can’t narrow to just one, haha

My very favorite novel, that I have gone back to many times, is The Stand, by Stephen King. A classic tale of the hero’s journey. (Salem’s Lot, Carrie and The Shining are also masterpieces)

The Temple of My Familiar has also stuck with me since it was released.

Pilgrim at Tinker Creek.

What about you??

No worries!! TC Boyle is fantastic. Have you read any Tom Perrotta? He is equally as talented…tho his work is much grittier in my opinion. Drop City of TCB is a favorite, as is The Women, The Harder They Come and Outside Looking In.

Tom Perrotta…Little Children is fantastic, Election, The Leftovers.

I think we have similar tastes in books, tho I tend more to female authors. Joyce Maynard is a favorite. Her autobiography, At Home In The World, is fascinating. Her novels are amazing, many have been made into movies.

Another book, a quiet one, but so beautifully written, is Crow Lake by Mary Lawson.

Dorothy Allison’s Bastard Out of Carolina is a rough and rewarding read, as is Carolyn Chute’s The Beans of Egypt Maine (which 100% reminds me of my home state).

And yes to anything Ram Dass wrote. Be Here, Now…I need as a tattoo.

I will!! I read good things about The Overstory.

Oh wow! I haven’t read any of those, haha. My Dad read a lot of Stephen King when I was younger. I will have to ask him if he’s read The Stand.

Thanks for sharing. My very favourite is The Princess Bride 👰🏼‍♀️ this book (and the movie) brought me so much joy and escape when I was younger - still does! Haha

I also love Lee Childs books - is Jack Reacher series are my fav!!

Mostly, however, I find myself drawn to books that are non-fiction and about person/spiritual growth :relaxed:

I am always wishing I had more time to read, lol but really I’ve just gotta make more time. If I’d put my phone down more often I’d no doubt free up a whole lot more time  but, that’s more difficult than I’d like to admit lol
