Yay I can’t wait! We just bought Four Seasons so we can read Shawshank Redemption also. I finally saw the movie last weekend for the first time!
Holy wow, it’s been ages for that one!! I honestly don’t even remember the plot.
id tried reading gravitys rainbow a decade ago, but couldnt follow anything of it. recently thought “well maybe ill follow it now that im more clear headed…” nope. haha. a friend suggested i try this one of his. just started but its pretty short
Haha on Gravity’s Rainbow!
Currently reading The Silent Wife by Karin Slaughter. My plan for today is to drink tea and get through a good chunk of that. I just finished Still Life by Louise Penny and the Whisper Network by Chandler Baker. I love to read but it doesn’t happen when I’m drinking. So glad to have fallen back into books as this journey continues! It gives me another reason to stay sober.
you bringing up 1984 got me to look into it, and then i figured i should read it. started earlier today and loving it so far. thanks for the heads up!
Oh it’s good! You will like it!
Finally starting to read again. Just finished the lovely bones by Alice Sebold. Tough subject matter, well written and it needed some redemption at the end. But this was all a bit too much of a neat happyish end. Anyway, some Terry Pratchett next. Still haven’t read about 10 of his discworld novels yet. Those are always good to me.
Lol a statement I find myself using all too often to describe myself! I venture out from under my rock every so often though!
Cool. Yeah, im about halfway and im really enjoying it
Lovely Bones came up in a conversation I had with a friend recently. I havent read it, and had never heard of it actually. I think maybe its a sign and I should get a copy.
How did you find it? I thought it was great, and I loved the chapter that involved a birthday (trying to avoid spoilers incase you haven’t got there yet ). I had a grin on my face for that whole bit. Lovely stuff. And although it shares a very central theme with 1984 it’s not as bleak to me, a bit weirder tho.
I have a week off work so looking forward to catching up with some of the many, many books I have bought during lockdown
Did you watch the show?
