Baby birdies thread ❤ And the cockatoo crew ❤

It still baffles me as to how they have all become so so affectionatly close to me and love me just as much as I love them.

I could never have predicted that I’d be having this experience every day… I guess maybe if a cockatoo randomly turned up once and was timid, I could see that happening… but for this amount of time to have been blessed so much that these little floofs keep turning up every single day excited out side my window waiting for me, and stick around to play with me after the food is all gone, I could never have predicted I’d have formed such a close friendship with the floofs…

Every morning when they arrive, the joy I feel from seeing there happy little flappy feet run over to me is so heart warming. Every morning they run to me like its Christmas morning. They are like little kids and they have such a sweet and playful temprement , like a 5 year old would have.

And when they make there little noises it’s so sweet!

I feel like when I’m in my last days on this earth, living this human incarnation experience, I will remember these precious days with the floods, with a warm heart and a fondness that is irreplaceable

It is a true bond and so unique and special from where I sit. It brings such joy and healing to not only you, but us too and your flying friends as well I believe. It is truly amazing what is brought into our life…so many things we never imagined. You have been blessed with their friendship as they have been with you. So incredibly different and special!

Woke up this morning to find that one of the pigeons has been covered in a blue substance.

I dont know what it is.

Someone in my building has done it.

My blood is boiling.

Some humans are truly evil.

Well said Sass, l also feel like we, on TS, are all getting the benefit of April’s amazing experience!
When l see those photos, it puts an instant smile on my face and brightens my day. I feel like l’m right there with her and her ‘Floof’ friends.
I love the narrative that goes with her pics❤️ In fact, @SassyRocks, l have another marketing idea!
What about an Australian kids book about cockatoos written by April?!! I could do illustrations as l have done drawings for a book once before; ‘Quentin the Charging Rhino’ :+1:

You could be onto something there

That amazing that you draw!?!

I can barely draw a smile face. LOL.

I love this idea!! April and The Floofs!

I’m liking this idea :bulb:

I wonder, how hard is it to write a children book, have it illustrated and published?

Does anyone know much about the process?

@Andy68 what’s your experience been like?

Now that it really bizarre! But my first thought is not that someone has done it maliciously?!

Call me naive, but it looks like someone has done it to make it ?pretty (like dyeing white fluffy chickens)

It doesn’t look like someone has tipped ink on it, for instance-it’s too uniform. And if it isn’t a pet/tame, how would somebody catch it to do that?
I agree, it is suspicious, but l think we have to question the motive.:face_with_monocle:

I am interested to read other people’s opinions.
Hope it doesn’t affect him adversely  Might make him more cocky like a peacock :peacock:

It was definitely a malicious act.

I have a good idea who did it.

There are people in my building that are not right in the head. I’ve seen the person throw things at the birds in the past and scream at them. The person even kicked a pigeon In the past and broke its leg. The pigeon is still here but hops around. It’s heart breaking.

I can’t do anything about it because there’s no actual proof this person is doing this, I just see them coz I’m looking out my window when it’s happened.

And its not like there’s any one I can call and say " oh hi, there is a person in my building harming pigeons. Can you please stop them?"

On that note, there is an actual organisation in Victoria called “the pigeon project” @Andy68 have you seen the big billboards for it?! Its very interesting.

Well, it was a VERY long time ago (1991) and l must say l didn’t have anything to do with the publishing process. My B.l.L did it all.

The hardest part, l think, is finding someone that will publish/print it. It can be costly, especially if you only print a small batch (we got a 1000 copies printed).

From memory, you send your draft copy to a publisher and they read it and assess its worth, and whether they think it is likely to do well.

Oh! I feel silly now! I’m sorry to hear that other tenants are hurting your friends.

I can understand that not everyone likes birds and they can be a menace, but deliberately harming them is next level.

I wonder what their problem is? Is it the mess that birds leave, the noise, or maybe a rodent issue.

If you don’t feel safe or comfortable approaching this neighbour, could you contact the body corporate to discuss your concerns?

You could call the RSPCA. They could come out and see for themselves or you could send photos of the blue and limping pigeons? Just a thought.

My concern would be that this poor behaviour could escalate and ‘Mr Floof’ and friends may become targets.

Good Luck :four_leaf_clover:

Hi April, hope you’re well? (Omicron hasn’t landed on your window sill yet,has it?)

My family and l were in lso over XMAS/NY due to my eldest contracting COVID.lt seems everyone l know has someone in their family who has it. It’s terrible!

Did you hear we are back to Paracetamol and Toilet paper rations??!:weary:
Just received a text saying the emergency dental appointment l made for a jaw infection has been cancelled due to COVID!
I’m on my 3rd course of antis and need to see my dentist!
I hate this virus and what it has done to our lives. But as a healthcare worker, l fear things are going to get worse before they get better?!:weary:

Back onto the topic though, haven’t seen any ‘Mr Floof and friends’ posts lately. Have they not been visiting?

Here are some pics that may be of interest to you :+1:

There here everyday, but because of the situation with the tenenant above me smashing his window out the past few days in a psychosis episode, his window is hanging off its hinges and the glass is shattered. Its right above my window where I feed the floofs so if I open my window and any shards of glass fall off it will be very dangerous for the floofs and for me.

The police were here again last night because he was at it again. The window is still not fixed.

Hopefully today it will be removed.

The floofs are getting confused as to why my window is not open.

I’m still walking across the road to the lake park to feed them any way so they are still getting feed.

I adore those pictures!

That book looks interesting as well.

There is a coffee table book called birdland that I’ve wanted for a while. It’s so beautiful. The picture are brilliant. The book won prices.

Maybe for my new apartment I will treat my self and buy it as my house warming present

OMG! April, how scary! What actually is wrong with people? That’s not the same person that dyed the pigeon blue,is it?

I hope the police sort him and that he gets evicted. Those windows look pretty solid-he must have been strong to break it?

The poor Floofs! They must be a bit confused as to why you have stopped inviting them into your apartment!

Thought you might like to see my SILs artwork-she is going through chemo at the moment and has taken to drawing at home between treatments-

People experience drug psychosis and things like this happen.

Will Google this book! Looks beautiful! The cover reminds me to tell you, we have a family of Tawny Frogmouths down the street. When l walk back from the train station after an evening shift, l see and hear them on the powerlines. They are a peculiar looking bird. A bit like an owl, not as cute, but still interesting!
