Gets easier every day mate, adapt to life without it and have loads more energy for the good stuff in life!

Got too much energy now. Went to the Pub the other night. Just had a coke. Bloody place stunk! Never noticed it before. Just smell of spilt stale ale, not nice. But others drinking didn’t bother me at all. Plus my bank balance isn’t taking a hit.

This is like my story exactly. It feels like I am not like other alcoholics because I wasn’t drinking a liter a day. But yeah, totally lost all control when bingeing but could go days or weeks between binges.

Doing well thanks. Midnight will be 4 weeks. It’s been reasonable to be fair, had the odd craving, but just focus on something else for 10-20 minutes. Oh and remember how crap the hangovers were!!

4 weeks is incredible :+1: keep focused bud and always remember how crap the hangovers feel. Tomorrow you will wake up fresh. Good night mate keep in touch.

Thank you. Been using this App and Smart meetings. Certainly better than the previous attempts using only cold turkey/willpower.

Nice one mate, the thought of being around people drinking is worse than the actual doing it. You still socialise and no one’s arsed if you’re hammered or not are they!
Coming up to a month now not getting the cravings half as much, glad to hear your banks doing well

It’s an all too familiar story for loads of people mate.
Definitely a problem in the UK and more worldwide in general I think.

Wow I am just like you used to be. House and job, figure i deserve to drink friday but can’t stop, then saturday same, cznt remember conversation with wife and pretend to remember. Sunday say well jhst a couple more before i go back to work monday. That ends up a lot more . Then a few after work Monday to try and be responsible drinker likd its just a couple. Then no drinks for three days so hey i dint have a problem…till friday and i do it all over again. I can sometimes get to ten days sober but 95 percent of the time its just tues through Thursday. I hate this i just keep giving in,giving up and hitting the reset button.

Hey what plan do you have in place to stay sober? As like you i could last 10 days then be back on it , its only when i got serious about stopping i started to put plans into place ok it still took a few times but i learnt with each slip up what not to do next .
Id suggest learning all you can about drink/addiction and its effects as it was only then i felt i had the answers to the whys
And use this community as much as possible honestly the people on here are brilliant and will help anytime of day .
But id say the number 1 and most important thing is do it for yourself dont do it for others or cause your feeling bad cause you f*&cked up and the wife is pissed you really have to want it.
You got this a day at a time :muscle:

I went to an AA meeting not because I thought I was addicted but because I had a problem that was getting worse and only going one way. Was a real wake up call for me and helped me realise I needed to stop! Sorta used it as an eye opener and I can guarantee you the people there will be in or have been in similar place to you now.
After 10 days I was still craving getting smashed and was really hard not dropping off and just caving in but the longer it goes on the easier it gets trust me.
Just got do it for yourself no one else and everything around you gets easier and it’s easier to keep people happy when ya heads straight.
This app is really good to just check in and get support if you’re struggling.
I’m on day 35/36 now and even tho the thought of a beer or vodka is nice it’s not worth falling into old habits so I’m happy to just live without.
You’d be surprised if you spoke to those around you how many also don’t drink and you can use each other to stay on the right path.
Good luck :ok_hand:t2:

Sound like you’re still doing good. I’ll be on day 37 at midnight. Just spent some of the money I’ve saved on a new weights bench, last one went in a skip 18 months ago because I couldn’t be arsed, rather be in the boozer, pool and darts was my exercise. Still well up money wise though. Can’t believe how much I’m saving each week. Keep doing what your doing, you seem to have cracked it.

Australia is very much the same. Drinking is such a huge part of our culture…makes it difficult when every gathering, social event or whatever seemd to involve alcohol

Yes I was a power drinker, binge drinker, hardcore drinker etc. I try to sugar coat things on here but your story is so similar to mine I’m tempted to just say it. What i’m about to say is just my lived experience. It’s not my place to tell you what to believe but what i’m about to tell you is based on things i’ve seen and experienced. So if you want to believe it or not that’s really not for me to say i’m just telling you this is what I figured out you can believe whatever you want.

So alcohol is called “spirits” because it allows them access to you. They have names like “unclean spirit”, “vile spirit”, “demons” etc. This is also why things like lust, fornication and insulting others can tend to follow binge drinking - the person is being influenced by these entities. Now in my case my family had a generational curse. Alcohol killed multiple people in my family and the other members typically die in wierd ways, strange ways. They also tend to have at least one serious health malady while alive.

I got on my knees, repented to God and asked forgiveness of my sins. I asked Jesus to wash my sins away and I asked the Holy Spirit to come to me for help. I prayed to Jesus to remove the urge to drink. He did what 20 years of various programs could not. A while after this I noticed I was still having negative thoughts. I prayed for Jesus to remove any spirit of heaviness, depression, anxiety or suicidal thoughts and he did this. I looked up generational curse breaking prayers online and prayed multiple ones. I had familial ancestor ties to the occult and secret societies. I repented of those sins as well to get freed. I was going to die and had tried everything. This was the only thing that worked. Jesus left the 99 to save me. I now repent, thank Jesus for saving me, try not to sin, pray, read the bible, love thy neighbor and try to follow Jesus’s teachings daily.

You too mate both seem to be not looking back aswell! Helps you realise how much more there is to do and life is a lot simpler and easier without drink. Pools still my main sport to be fair but it’s one of few sports I’m alright at :joy:
Glad you’re also doing well you seem to be smashing it :muscle:t2:
I keep thinking maybe one day I’ll be able to enjoy a few pints and the odd night out but then I just think what’s the point in taking that chance.
Keep going pal.
