Binge eating recovery daily check in thread (Part 4)

I started eating less than 6 times a day as per my therapy. Today is a second day since I am not eating regularly. I am simply not hungry at all I’m the heat wave which hit the UK. So I am comfortably skipping my snacks. So far so good but I am being careful because I am a little bit worry if it could lead to binge eating eventually again..

Thank u for the comment! I count a binge as feeling out of control with whatever Im eating. So the other day i ate those 4 bars and i felt like i couldn’t stop :frowning: its more about how i feel eating the food (lack of control) as opposed to how much i eat, i guess ud say

220 smoke free, 6 binge free, 6 moderate keto.

I sucessfully worked through some cravings yesterday. After my last meal I kept my hands and mind busy and told the nagging voice in my head to shut the f*** up because I had eaten already and I‘m not gonna listen to the food noise. Kind of proud of myself

Have a peaceful day, everyone :purple_heart:

Day 1
Last night my husband was irritable and discontent. He came home from work hot, tired, and hungry. I surprisingly kept calm as he was projecting his irritability onto me. I wanted so badly to eat my emotions in the evening, but I didnt. I prayed about it, realizing that eating wont solve a thing, except of course make things worse. He did apologize afterwards but I still felt hurt.

I woke up this morning feeling better… grateful that I didnt eat my emotions. I turned my attention to helping others to get me out of self. Its helping

Hope everyone had a great day today! Kuch love to all!

So sorry for you having to deal with that. (Normal occurrence in my life)

Following you I don’t see this happening much in your days. Great job on dealing with all you do and this little bump. May your day be brilliant.

I remembered that I experienced less food noise when I focused on no snacking. So I‘m trying it again.

I talked with a nutricionist about my keto diet and she pointed out the thin line between a healthy diet and restrictive eating.

Restrictive eating caused my eating disorders in the first place. To be honest, keto feels really restrictive these days and I am struggling with it right now. It takes much mental space and energy.

She suggested an alternative which is not as strict as keto, but still avoids trigger foods: Low carb, which means max. 100 g carbs in a day. And no snacking, 3 planned meals.

Sometimes I feel stupid because I‘m coming up with new attempts so often. On the other hand, it’s part if the journey to find out what is helpful and what’s not. Any thoughts about that?

Have a peaceful day, everyone :purple_heart:

Hey girl! I dont think that it is stupid at all that ur trying diff things! We are all unqiue individuals when it comes to our eating, and so i think its actually quite smart to try diff ways and methods to see what works best. You wont know unless u try.

I can relate to ur post about keto being restrictive in a sense. For the 6 months or so that I did Keto, i totally felt like my mind was consumed with it. Planning meals, constantly watching the carb content and avoiding the foods that u have to in order to stay in ketosis. I found it difficult at times, as for me, I thought it was quite restrictive. I found it difficult (that and my stomach HATED me near the end lol). It works great for some, but not for me. I couldnt see that way of eating being a lifelong thing for me.

But I think low carb is a great choice! And u already have the experience in watching ur carbs due to keto. It may be a good fit for u! Its worth trying anyway  may be less restrictive and gives u a bit more freedom

Awe thank you!!! As are you my friend
Today has been okay! Im really finding the OA program helping. I was at the hospital with my son just now and i saw the cinnamon buns and was really craving one. But i reminded myself of step 1, that I am powerless over food. So i kept walking lol

Last night was a bit harder tho. I ate some cookies and felt out of control eating them. Just another sign that I am powerless i guess lol one is too many and 1000 is never enough

Like urself, i am sort of trying diff things to see what works for me. Im supposed to develop a “plan of eating”. Its 1 of the tools for OA. So i gotta figure out what works for me… im thinking 3 meals a day (focused on fiber and protein) and no snacking in between. I might have a light snack in the evening but im unsure on that right now. I already made a list of my trigger foods and trigger behaviours. Now i just need to work on staying abstinent.

I am so proud of all the work you put into your healing and developing healthy eating habits. In my experience, food addiction is the hardest to live with because we need to do moderation.

Please keep us posted how it’s working out for you. I am cheering for you!

Day 2011 : No binge today.

@DanielaJ Nah, you’re not stupid, a lot of ”normal”/non food addicted people can’t sustain keto long term. It’s not an easy diet to stick to in general. It can absolutely be draining too, because easy to prepare foods more often than not have a lot of carbs. I tried keto myself and it was not easy. Now, I also tried Paleo so that’s always an option if you want to experiment with the help of your nutritionist. Paleo is kinda lower carb, focusing on complex carbs, like fruit, sweet potatoes, nuts, seeds, honey, and veggies. Along with certain fat sources and meat. It doesn’t have a set carb amount per se like keto as long as you eat carbs and they’re not super processed. And as long as you’re balancing your meals with protein and fat you’ll be good to go.

Hello girls
Good to see you are all doing well!:smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

@DanielaJ I’ll repeat what everyone else said and confirm that you’re far away from stupid. Trying new things proves your initiative and flexibility to adapt based on the research you do within yourself. Honestly, not many people will figure such a complex thing within the week one. It can take lifetime figuring out what our body needs depending on current lifestyle and many more other factors. We are not still. We are developing and changing as the time passes by. You’re not the same person today who you were yesterday. Today you may exercise more, we age, our bodies and metabolism are changing… I am trying to say that given so many variables happening every day, it is difficult to figure ourselves right. Some people stick with their habits regardless whether they suit them or not, you’re at least trying to do something good and healthy for yourself. Any learning requires making mistakes because that is how we learn what are the right things - by eliminating the wrong ones once we know which they are  You and others are pretty smart! Self-reflective, well spoken (you can describe your feelings, opinions, ideas and support in the way everyone understands), kind and lovely
I am glad you share with us (and continue doing so) your worries and stories. They show how truly beautiful a person you are :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Hello Sweetheart
I am sorry to read this, that your husband was not treating you the best because he had a bad day. I guess it happens.. I am glad he apologised, although it didn’t take away the harm already done.. Hopefully he will learn from it and be better next time he feels down.
My boyfriend can be irritated sometimes too and then he isn’t himself but it’s not so bad. The best is not to engage with him much if he’s in such a mood but I understand that it’s not always possible to avoid them
I am very pleased to hear you didn’t eat your emotions though! That’s the spirit and way to go. I can see you have got some tools working for you now, so that is very good :+1:t3::blush::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
Following your journey, I think that you’re doing very well and healing step by step :mending_heart: You are AMAZING :heart::heart:

Thank you everyone for your encouraging words! It means so much to me :face_holding_back_tears::smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I don’t feel alone and I wouldn’t have come so far without all of you.

Day 223 smoke free, 9 binge free.

Excited about my holidays. Tomorrow I‘ll go on a campervan trip with my daughter. I am sooooooo looking forward to it!

Have some packing to do today, go to the library since we‘re both avid readers, especially in the holidays. My daughter had a Little surgery on her foot and she has a bit of trouble walking around, so we’re doing everything real slowly.

Have a peaceful day, everyone :purple_heart:
