Blanka's and Sticky's check-in

116 AF days today, I actually had to check to know, stopped counting every single day…
Everything is just great now! My walking improved and I even visited my local fitness center today, I will start working out from Monday. Green light from my doctor as long as I start it nice and easy. Cant wait
My guys :cat2: :cat2: made finally friends, it was slow and exhausting 6 weeks of hissing, whinging etc but now they are BFF xxx Life is good xxx

It sounds like you are off to a good start. Hobbies and distractions can make the dry time more tolerable for sure. Here is a very interesting thread about steps other people are taking to not just avoid/replace drinking time and activities but to also specifically promote the growth and change that is labeled “sobriety”.

That’s just fine, dear. And the way you are stepping up to make our newer members welcome and comfortable, that is absolutely the way to keep your sobriety fresh and growing.

I think you are a pretty keen kid!

Thank you soooo much guys xx̌x being sober feels so good, never thought it would…
Last visit to hospital today, I was told my leg is healing ‘beautifully’ :upside_down_face: they even think I dont need physiotherapy which is rare.
The hospital is over 1 hour walk away from my place, I decided to walk it both ways :grinning: xxx

You put me in mind of this quote from the AA book “12 Steps and 12 Traditions”

Like most people, we have found that we can take our big lumps as they come. But also like others, we often discover a greater challenge in the lesser and more continuous problems of life.

How is your healing coming along?

Hi Dan, Im so much better now, thank you for asking. I joined lovely leisure center, started working out, slowly but surely rebuilding my strength. Coming back to work on Monday. Needless to say not drinking now feels so good! 130 days tomorrow! NO cravings at all, well maybe occasional thought but i doesn’t bother me at all. Xxx

What is a leisure center? I mean it sounds like the place I wanted to live while I was drinking! I had a therapist once who pointed out that my thinking and attitudes were grounded in “the myth of eternal leisure”. I wanted to be on the beach in the sunshine every day. The idea of “back to work” was anathema to me then. In sobriety, I’ve learned a lot about how to balance my life, my thinking.

Hahaha, thats like a fitness center+. Gym, swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, play area for kids, little restaurant, cafe, area to study/work, beauty salon, all in one place. You can spend there all day really. Xxx i would have to check if they sell alcohol there but i don’t think so LOL
