Thank you
Atta girl . Nice number. Keep up the great work and a wonderful day to you too.
Day 1 The struggle is real.
Day 1. Lost myself for yet another year. It never works and never will. I can’t do this alone.
Thank you so much and good luck to you! The back and forth sounds oh so familiar. Keep up the good work!
Day 268. Google Hangout with the band last night. We’re all itching to play. I played guitar on Monday for the first time since 2/21. Felt good to just plug in and go.
Writing up a workout program for my girlfriend, as she’s ready to get back in it, so that’s been fun.
Other than that…same ol same ol.
Have a strong day!!!
Day 5 check in
Hang with us Conor. Drinking is good for nothing and it won’t help you with anything. You’d be back where you were. What are the cravings telling you? What is your brain telling you? Why does it seem drinking is a good idea?
Hi Maartje! Welcome here. It’s a great place to find support. And to give it too. It’s being together with people who know the deal that makes it work for me. Also so much knowledge about addiction here. Hope it will be helpful for you too. Success!
@Conor689908
Conor, don’t do it buddy…text here and ring someone you know!!!
You will regret it tomorrow to throw away your days.
Re-watch a classic MU match on YouTube to take your mind off it.
Whatever you need to do.
Hang in there man! I barely found myself back here since August of 2018… it took that long to stop lying to myself again… don’t get lost my friend. The long road back is not worth it.
Thank you so much Mno! I’m sure the posts and support of you fine people will help me cope. I’ve never been to an actual group before - have been smoking cannabis for like, 20 years and I’ve come to realize I’m not gonna beat this thing on my own - I suffer from social anxiety, but due (or thanks) to Covid-19 I’ll now have to try an online meeting first.
Then ride the craves like waves. Experience them. Feel them and analyse them. What exactly is your body and brain telling you? It truly is interesting and intriguing stuff Conor, albeit painful. And know craves are not imperatives. They are not orders that have to be followed. We CAN say no to them and they WILL subside. You do have a choice even though the voice in your head might say you don’t. Believe me you do.
Thank you everyone for your condolences. I appreciate you guys. I’m hanging in there and still sober.
I smoked cannabis for 35 years while the last 15 or so years all it gave me was anxiety really… And I still couldn’t quit. So good you’ve taken the decision now and good you are seeking help. And nobody can do this on their own Maartje. We all need help from others in some form. Help from our peers works best I think. This place is a great starting point.
What would happen if you refuse to obey the voice Connor? If you just say no? Maybe it will say it again and again and again. And then some more. At some point it will stop. You have a cunning brain by the way friend. Telling you(rself) exactly what to get. Smart. You’re a crafty bugger and addiction has taken a strong hold in your brain. Don’t give in.
Here’s what my sponsor would ask me.
Have you prayed about it?
Can you try to go to sleep? Now.
Just checking in. I’m alive. Life is comfortable. I’m happy. Hope your all doing well. Keep up the good work everyone!
OK … and focus on your head hitting the pillow asap. Nothing else!!
