Reset my tracker… almost 48 hrs in!
@TMAC I’m so so thrilled to read this update from you. You are on the right path! Yes, stopping drinking is good but it’s when we START living and caring for our emotional sobriety that life becomes beautiful. Wishing you all the best on thia journey!! George sounds like a good guy & I can’t wait to hear how Tues goes!
What keeps getting you to pick up? I hope you have a good day today…!
Stress… depression… ptsd… I have an appointment tomorrow to start getting help and it is much needed. Thank you and I hope you have a great day too
It is sunny and 75 this morning, but chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. Hope to fit in a bike ride before the rain! Thanks for the compliment!
Oh man, biking there is nothing to sneeze at, lol. I also lived in NH before; it’s much easier riding down here,
75 sounds lovely!
I bet they’re not up still! When I start to feel that I think that I’ve filled my quota on drinking; so many years in my case.
Plus, who knows how many of them may ask you someday about sobriety.
You’re doing great and your numbers are inspiring! I haven’t had a cig since I quit 83 days ago but I still vape so I’ll work on that someday in the near future.
I need to go here hahaha
Is there a way for you to listen to your heart? The brain is programmed, as you have already observed. AA calls it your higher power, I’m still trying to figure that out. My sponsor recommends that I seek the higher power by observing events and situations and notice when I have a desired feeling . Be it gratitude, love, hope, that is where I can find my higher power. Most of the time I see it in nature, but recently I’ve been practicing love with what I have now. I have felt nudges and indications of something transformative when I act on what I think is love. You’ve got some amazing insights of the psychology of behavior. I recommend you read poetry, inspiration from gurus, christian or Buddhist, or any other points of access to the spiritual. I am in awe of your observations in life. You are truly a seeker of philosophy of being.
You need to let go of alcohol. Romancing the drink will get you otherwise, relapsing starts way before the first drink. I know you’re fighting like hell and hanging on right now. Do you attend meetings? Listen to podcasts? Do you have other sober people you know? Do anything you can to change your perception of alcohol would be my advice to you. We’re here for you man. Message me anytime you need to talk, i check in more than i should .
Doing great, Rob!
I feel like the therapy and the medication repair who we really are, not change us. As our insecurities shrink and we become healthier, we become more free to be our true selves without fear and insecurity.
That’s awesome! I’m so thrilled for you, great news
Thanks Donna!!! You’re the best!!!
Day one, first time admitting I’ve lost control…headache is starting, sweated all last night, but I woke up and didn’t have a hangover and the regret of what I did the night before. I have tried to quit alcohol once before but surrounded myself and allowed myself to slip. I am more determined than ever this time!!!
Day 13, very superstitious…
Well done ! I’ve had a few such temptations lately…
