Love the camel medallion and poem! It has special meaning to me as my AA home group, “Straight from the Heart”, gives out these coins & pins for sober anniversaries. Once a month we have a special meeting to celebrate and, when we were able to meet in person, I would make cookies using my came cookie cutter. Congrats on the new coin!
I am slowly collecting affirmation coins and yes you are correct the camel is the symbol of AA. if you want to get cheap coins check these out.
Thank you, it’s getting a little more than I could imaginem I’ll probably do a new update before this day is over.
Congrats Joy! I am trying to get rid of both, alcohol and cigarettes at the same time too. They are such a combo, it is really difficult to treat them separately for me. You are an inspiration!
Something like that
Checking in, day 8 is almost over. I have planned my first 2 weeks and luckily get an annual leave. So, we had a great walk with my dog along the sea in the morning and have a zoom book club in the evening. Keeping reasonably busy but not forgetting to rest.
Great to be here with so many inspirational people!
Sounds lovely. Enjoy! .
Thanks sweetie I will. X it feels good to FEEL GOOD!!!
That is absolutely lovely. Where? Beautiful dog, too!
SE England. Very lucky to live by the sea, and feel grateful to be able to enjoy it daily in the last 8 days. Doggy seems happier too
What about your duck?
Don’t give up @Jonachav123 I know it’s tough!!! I know exactly where you’re at and how much it hurts. We never know what can happen when we stay sober but if we drink or use we can definitely know that nothing good will. I’m proud of you for reaching out here in this forum, it’s what I did many, many times going through my situation. Have a great day today!
90 days. Awesome!!
Awesome!!
Day 126 clean and sober today. Went to the drive in movies with Faith last night to see the Labrynth with David Bowie in it and it was pretty cute! Love spending time with her it’s one of my favorite things to do! Had therapy yesterday which went really well, finished my assignments for two of my classes, cleaned the house and got a job with my friends company that will allow me to have Mondays and Wednesday’s off for school! I start next Tuesday and I’m very grateful for all of the blessings in my life. Have a great day everyone, love you guys!!!
Getting the therapist is the best! You can talk to him/her without feeling any judgement, only sympathy. They might ask questions that show you different perspective. It takes time but it’s definitely worth it!
If you never had a therapist just one suggestion; don’t waste your time and money on one that you don’t feel connect to.
All the best and hope you will feel better soon as you are doing amazingly well with the sobriety.
A.A. Thought for the Day
How seriously do I take my obligations to A.A.? Have I taken all the good I can get out of it and then let my obligations slide? Or do I constantly feel a deep sense of loyalty to the whole A.A. movement? Am I not only grateful but also proud to be a part of such a wonderful fellowship, which is doing such marvelous work among alcoholics? Am I glad to be a part of the great work that A.A. is doing and do I feel a deep obligation to carry on that work at every opportunity? Do I feel that I owe A.A. my loyalty and devotion?
Thank you, it wasn’t easy but I realized once I quit alcohol it was easier to quit the cigarettes. For me alcohol meant puffing on a cig and they went so well together. My whole ordeal/recovery for me is unbelievable and reaffirming @Frank68’s share and quoting @Dolse71’s coin “I not only believe in Miracles - I depend on them.”
Blessings and sobriety!
if I was to drink right now in the next 2 minutes I would be smoking, peas and carrots my dear.
Good morning @Joy! Quitting one of those is not easy but doing both is awesome! You are a great example for people to follow. Have a great day.
