Checking In Daily To Maintain Focus #23

Checking in sober, Day 339. Made it to Friday, which this week was a bit of a challenge with everything going on… Still, I’m sober.

Some humor from the book I’m reading that hopefully makes you smile:
dear
“Alcohol doesn’t permit one to do things better but instead causes us to be less ashamed of doing things poorly.” - W. Osler

Checking in 2 weeks AF & Day 11 no cigarettes. Yesterday was my first sober birthday in a long time! I spent most of the day at the Dr, & just hoping it’s my body adjusting to living without all those toxins & a change in diet. I’ve been having anxiety really bad, but trying some breathing exercises. Take care all & have a Happy Sober Friday❤️

It feels so good to replace all those chemicals cigarettes contain with fresh clean air inside the lungs  the anxiety i think comes from coming off cigarettes i had it bad when coming off.

Lets win it brother  your on a roll and no one is stopping you nothing can stop you !!

Man you’re not kidding, this hits the nail on the head.

It was time consuming, expensive as hell and at the end of my run it was something I felt obligated to do. Glad you feel the same.

Day 648. Take out hangover and add in pure exhaustion and that’s where I am at :sob::sweat_smile:. I work for weight watchers and we had a nation wide launch on Wednesday for our new virtual coaching and ww+ app. It’s been a whirlwind of emotions but I couldn’t be more proud to work with such an amazing team and am doing this all sober. I am finally so proud of myself for getting to where I am. Happy Friday, my friends. Do not give up. You can seriously do absolutely anything if you let yourself-your brain is your strongest muscle-use it!

Day 95: Tired this morning! Chucho had a long coughing spell last night and I was up with him till 2 am, long after he had settled down. He didn’t collapse though, and the cough was more dry, and after talking to the vet this morning that suggests the diuretic is being effective at reducing fluid in his lungs. Our last option is a cough suppressant in pill form that we could give him in the evenings if he continues having fits at night. Just keeping an eye on him until next week. He has been right as rain so far this morning, and I’m already contemplating a nap! Those cookies aren’t going to bake themselves, though. I am prepping my hands for abuse first by taking some Aleve, warming up my joints on my mug of tea and doing some light stretches. It seems to make a world of difference and I don’t hurt as badly afterward. My feet, on the other hand…hahaha, the other hand :raised_hand: I crack myself up! I have a tall stool that I sit on while I’m working in the kitchen and it helps to take breaks off my feet. I finally decided to jump on the Instant Pot train after reading lots of conversations about it on here and talking to my friend about hers. In the quest to continue my love of cooking but accommodate for arthritic pain, I think this gadget could be a huge help. I already love my crock pot. I am looking forward to yet another weekend happily sober and with any luck we will get the snow we are being promised tomorrow. I’m ready!

Happy Friday, welcome to our new folks just joining us, and to those of you who are reading but haven’t posted yet, I’m glad you’re here and wish you all the best in the quest for a better life. We’re in this together, somos juntos. :heartpulse:

Nope. Owned by a gentleman named Kent Cole. They had to close the Mag I managed for ten years because of COVID but they still have their South Congress store. I know you’ve traveled a lot. Have you ever been to Austin Texas?
Oh and I saw your red Christmas cookie candle on the gratitude thread. We got one too! But it’s a very light yellow. Love it. Mine is the Yankee Candle brand. And it’s Christmas sugar cookie smell. It is so strong even when it’s not lit and you walk by it. And we have the Fir Tree one. I stink up the house with all the cooking so I have many Yankee Candles. My fave is fresh cut roses. One smell to cover another right? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
