Doing a second check in. So got off the phone with the doctor she said yes I have ADHD. General anxiety, and something about worrying idk. She wants me to try laxepro for the social anxiety, and said the ADHD will need to be treated. Like I donā€™t fucking know man, I donā€™t really want any medicine I feel like itā€™s going to fuck with my sobriety and mind more idk.

Lexapro is a good base to start mood stability. It will not affect your sobriety, if anything it will strengthen your commitment to it. I say give it a go for a month or two, see how you like it. Take it as prescribed and give it abit of time to work , at least a month. I think you will find it beneficial. I used it 20 yrs ago. It does work . you will not get dependent on it as you mentioned. It will just act as a hypothetical band aid to your moods and emotions till you get to a better place in life where you feel better and can implement new direction and change that u want for the better etcā€¦if you skeptical, nothing in life will change. Be open minded. If you donā€™t think they work or just donā€™t want to take them , then donā€™t. I think u will benefit from them. There is nothing wrong with u as u mentioned , imagine this as just an upgrade to your ability to function and Improve as a human  we all benefit from internal upgrades as humans at some point in one way or another :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::v::innocent::trophy:

@Sassyrocks did it . experiment complete :joy: will delete experiment lol.

I feel you! Itā€™s new to the most of us to expose ourselves to sad or any other negative feelings. Normally we numb ourselves and now we go through the whole thing. Im learning how to get acquainted with these feelings, but itā€™s not easy. Great you had this moment and reflect on them like you did!

I am back, I hope, for good. After pulling an all nighter and attempting a few more whilst bingeing netflix and hated myself I managed to delete my accountā€¦ For now. As long as I donā€™t watch Netflix for 24 hours Iā€™ll be good though

Hereā€™s me getting up on my horse :racehorse: again about mood altering drugs vs mood stabilizing drugs.

Thereā€™s nothing at all wrong with it. I have always been against drugs because I hate the pharmaceutical companies. But, under doctors care they can be of much benefit. Make sure you keep an open dialog with you doc about any meds you try. Do not. And I repeat. Do not just stop taking them on your own. Talk to your doc first. Itā€™s better for them to adjust dosage or slowly take you off it if you donā€™t like it.

My wife is taking Lexapro. She wishes she started it so much sooner in life. And she is so much better. She just piped up and said ā€œit doesnā€™t get you high or anything!ā€

And, not to pick on AA at all, they are great. But my sonā€™s AA group pressured him, or so he felt, to get off his meds. They told him you canā€™t be sober if your taking meds. Well Bullshit!! He went off his meds and the shit hit the fan. Psychologically he was a fuckin hot mess for a week or so. As a parent it was my worst nightmare. Iā€™m just saying listen and work with your doctor on this one. Itā€™s ok.

5 weeks in a couple of hours. All is fine other than general blah from the covid/holiday season, missing my sons, and very much my 92 yo mom. Will be skiing tomorrow, then got invited for apps at our friendsā€™ house. That generally means cocktails too. Iā€™ll be fine, but itā€™ll be interesting to see my husbandā€™s decision. My non-drinking hasnā€™t been explicitly discussed. I bought a bottle of wine a bit ago, for cooking - he drank the rest of the bottle over a few nights. In general, though, nothing has been in the house. Wish me luck navigating the evening!

Thanks man I appreciate your response. Luckily my guys in a.a were not like that. A couple actually said to me bc I told them I donā€™t want the meds. " But what if the doctor suggest itā€™s a good idea, maybe then you can be more open to it" so they were behind me :100: which was very nice.

Thanks man. And see this was about like 2 or so months ago when I told my therapist I felt crazy and was just having a hard time, so she set me up with this doctor and of course now I feel much better.
