Day 35 and it’s New Year’s Day! Many years I would only be sober on January 1st bc I was too hungover from the night before to drink again. Feels good to start 2021 fresh.

Day 97. The fireworks didn’t keep Max awake, but I didn’t fall asleep until nearly 3, when my neighbors finally ran out of fireworks. I got up this morning, took Max for a good walk, and then came back and baked the brioche I started yesterday. It turned out well. I also launched my blog. Anyone here who’d like to follow along is more than welcome. It’s breadnotbooze.com.

Anyway, onto the good stuff:

@Kaeo and @Hotic, congratulations on two years, sober twins!:boom::boom::boom: I’m so happy for you both!

@Clarity, I somehow missed your 160 check in. Congratulations! Wish I was on the beach doing yoga with you.

@Jdiaz, hurray for 40 days! :sparkles:

@Tomek hang in there, my friend. I know things are tough right now, but you’re tougher.

@anon60334405 thank you for your share today. You said a lot of things I really needed to hear.

@RosaCanDo like your harassed toad, I also need to find a way to flow through situations and maintain some self protection. Thank you for your share.

@Joby don’t beat yourself up. You’re here with us and you’re sober now. You know you can do this because you have done this. Keep going.

I love the pic of you and Max in your blog @TSan . I’ll follow along but I can’t cook/bake for the life of me. I caused 2 kitchen fires, one of which landed us living in a hotel for a year while rebuilding our house. I’m only allowed in the kitchen to clean these days. :joy: Thankfully my husband is a good cook.

So super exciting! I love it. That’s huge! I will definitely follow along, but I’m with @Lisa07 on the actual baking thing. (Except I haven’t started any fires. Lisa, for real? Gak! :flushed: :face_with_hand_over_mouth: :joy:)

Happy New Year to you and Max too! :orange_heart: :paw_prints:

Awwww thanks! I keep finding myself going “he had so much going for him before I left” My older daughter said “all he had going for him was you”. Like we like to say down south, bless his heart lol. I’m ok, I’m finally at a point where I can walk away and never look back if he doesn’t need me. However, I’ll always consider him family, so if he needs me, I’ll be there. Within reason of course :heart::heart:

Hahaha this is excellent

I feel that we need to reward ourselves with a little something and for me its usually a pair of shoes nothing crazy cause then I feel like I’m just switching addictions…lol

I hear you loud and clear about “switching addictions” I’m treading very carefully…

Day 186.
This time last year, pre-TS, I was going to focus once again on getting moderation right! Sigh… It felt like deprivation.

This year, I’m just gonna keep doing what’s been working, what you have all been showing me we can do each day: build a life that simply has no room in it for the bottle or the corkscrew or the glass. Not because I’m numbed out by other means, like keeping too busy, but because I’m too engaged in the things that matter. Most of them good, but some of them hard, because hey – this is life.

This doesn’t feel like deprivation. This feels like living, one good day at time.
Let’s do another one tomorrow. G’night, dear sober pals. :orange_heart:
