Checking in day 309
Had the best day yesterday. Haven’t had this much fun on memorial day weekend in 8 years! Our friend from Hawaii moved back to the US and took us out on his jet skis and it was his birthday so we babysat his kid while he got his free comped dinner at his fancy hotel. The kids played nonstop. Just from morning to night living in the moment. See a humming bird? Definitely have to chase it. Glad I could keep up. After much arcading, we took the kids to the store and had a free for all picking out things for his dads “surprise party” and then decorated the hotel room and hid with the lights off and yelled “Surprise!” when he came back to the room. Seriously, this whole day would have ended so differently if I had drank. It would have ended with me passing out and waking up with regret. I am so glad I didn’t drink. Our friend from Hawaii is 8 months sober and kept talking to me about all the excuses to drink on his birthday. He made it through sober. Glad I was there to support him. And now the party dont stop!.. LOL and no hangover!
@Girlinterrupted thought you might get a chuckle  … Love you.
@Rockstar24777 So happy to hear that you got to jam with your band!
@MagicILY Huge congrats on 6 months! :tada:
@Wakikki Don’t forget to breathe! If you can control your breath you can control your mind. :purple_heart:
@Misokatsu Family can be sooo triggering. Don’t let them get to you! You are awesome!

Sounds like a really fun day @Clarity. Exhausting but not hungover. Helping your friend get through the day sober was icing on his cake. Awesome sauce!!

Thank you Lisa! I hate to say it but the old me would have been pressuring him to drink. God, it feels good to be on the right side of life… FINALLY!! Best day ever… besides my shoe fiasco :joy:… Hope you have the best day today!

@MrsOdh I’m so pleased that things seem to be slowly working out with the older lady and tweenie and your yes day, you really do deserve being able to look forward to something after everything you’ve gone through :raised_hands:t2::pray:t2:
@Rainyplayer78 congrats on 45 days clean and your month AF :tada:

293 days no alcohol.
261 days no cocaine.
16 days no binge-eating.

The morning was long today as my gym and swimming sessions didn’t start til 12:30, but I managed to nap my way through it whilst the excitement for the exercise grew. My pains didn’t flare up today and thankfully my back pain has reduced a fair bit :raised_hands:t2: I was extra careful doing the turns to change direction in the pool as I think that’s how I hurt it yesterday.

I feel so different when the sun is shining, it’s so glorious :star_struck: meditating feels even better with the sun warming my skin through the open window, I completed my 1126th session this afternoon, not exactly a milestone but I hadn’t really paid attention to the numbers before.

Life is good, I’m so grateful I made it out of active addiction, I never believed I could feel happiness without substances, more lies! :raised_hands:t2::blush::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

What’s a “yes day” Sophia?

Not quite true Jonathan. Well, not in the Netherlands anyway. Scheveningen supposed to be the best spot in the country. I have a friend who surfed there for years. It’s not Hawaii of course…

Thanks! The first days are always the worst. So to relapse and start over and over again, knowing this feelings Will Come, so t understand why keep doing it

I hear ya. Family has a tendency to do that but your better that than and your doing this for you and you only.

I’m going through a similar situation with my brother and dad. Bless their hearts they want the best for me and are there to support me but I feel at times they want me to live in sobriety the way they want me to. I don’t like that pressure. I’m doing this for me. This is my journey and my life. I haven’t had this conversation with them yet but I wish people/family/friends would understand that this is our journey and our life at stake. Do we welcome support, love and encouragement?Absolutely. But it’s gotta be gentle, understanding, accepting and with genuine love. This is why I love this forum. I get all that and more. And from people where 99% I’ll probably never meet. Isn’t that something?

Hang in there my friend. :pray:t3:

Thank you, I’m really happy that thinks finally seems to look a lot brighter as well. But at the same time, I’m having a hard time getting out of the chaos mindset and I’m just waiting for next storm. But it might not be. Me and my husband has promised ourselves that when this is over, from the Yes-day and forward we’re going to put ourselves and our family first, and prioritize that in front of everyone else. After 10 years that’s about time.
