Day 802

So I get a call and then a group text, apparently keeping a drummer in my alternative group dipped out, like the 4th one in 6 months.

I started this project with the guy who is the front man, and been there since day 1 I have been in every slot, bass, guitar and now drums, they been on me to drum
For a while but i havenā€™t played drums in a few years. So this is gonna be a unique rehearsal for sure, I got a metronome for my ear, and I know the material just laying down a groove will be a challenge to go with

Hey  enjoy the fresh mango and the beach. Sounds like a great way to spend a few hrs.
I often can only do the bare minimum. I tell myself Iā€™m healing, itā€™s ok and part of the process. Congratulations on staying strong :muscle:

Thanks so much. Yes we are healing! Exactly. Itā€™s OK to stick to the basics or have self care days .

Day 21 check in
Well I just noticed that I received the new user of the month award!:tada: Thatā€™s Awesome I will take any celebration!
So day 21 (3 weeks) is going pretty well! Itā€™s my husband Birthday today so we had lunch at Chedders which was delicious!
The best part was he announced that heā€™s starting his sober journey today!!!:tada: So no alcohol or cigarettes!! Iā€™ve heard when you make positive changes in life your loved ones will follow. Iā€™m super happy he decided this for his life and I have faith that our bond will only grow stronger living a sober life and having a sober marriage.
Iā€™m trying to catch up with this thread cause i love celebrating everyone milestones! Ever have a blessed sober day.

Feeling a bit run down from work and life. I need a holiday I think.
My cycle coming around which always tests me each month. The highs and the lows. But Iā€™m sober, which is awesome. Happy Friday friends

Sometimes we just need to see what is possible and know if someone else can do it then just maybe we have half a chanceā€¦ congrats on your 3 weeks, oh and your award. Iā€™ve been here years and only ever won Best Person At Derailing Threads :rofl::rofl:It was true so Iā€™ll take it with pride.

Hey just wanted to reach out to you. With the circumstances as they in some ways, itā€™s ok to continue to ask for help in these areas from any state resource center that your background has been a part of. Parole, probation depts and even rehabs can point you in the direction for some needs. Not knowing full details but there places that hire and receive incentives to give dudes a chance. Dude, seriously Iā€™m applauding you for reaching out here and continuing to try your best to the best you can with what you have-no easy feat. I have found along the way the more Iā€™ve become vulnerable with the right people (people with resources that either have those resources or can point me in the direction I need), generally some solutions do come around but it is a journey for sure. Iā€™m applauding you my friend.

Congratulations on your 2 years and the fact that your partner followed your footsteps and has made it over a year is awesome! Did yā€™all relationship get better once yā€™all both was living a sober lifestyle? Iā€™m really happy for him because I want him to see how it feels once the fog clears and he actually start experiencing life. But I know he have to want it for his self. All I can do is be supportive.

definitely not at the start, lots of emotions from both of us, she took out her withdrawals on me and I got what most people in recovery get ā€™ Iā€™ve stopped drinking so now I need to change my job, partner and hobbies bc they are not living up to my high standards and expectationsā€™:rofl::rofl:Oh it happens!!
Now we have a very different relationship, we are learning about each other again bc with drugs and alcohol we didnā€™t know each other at all. It was the only thing we had in common. Now we have days out, nights out, meals out, new interests that we are both part of. And we certainly donā€™t argue about when the drink and drugs run outā€¦ TBH I never ran out of drink, I was never that stupid

Checking in 977 days no fooking drugs.

Life is life.
Had a pretty bad fibro flare up for a week and now I am down with COVID. Crazy thing is I feel greatā€¦ spiritually. The health stuff is, meh compared to the spiritual pain I have felt. That rocks me to my core.

This seems to be the worst of my problems todayā€¦

I will take it.

Thank you Iā€™m sorry that youā€™re sick on top of a flare up but at least you have some LITE reading to take your mind off of things lol. It does go to show how powerful having the right perspective can be. Itā€™s very good to be back to be fully sober and Iā€™m just praying everyday I donā€™t fuck things up like I always do :crossed_fingers:
