Checking in daily to maintain focus #56

Hi fam,

checking in for today. My plan will be meditating, a healthy diet, cleaning, exercise and tackling a to-do-list which includes looking for a new sharehouse, car, maybe motorbike lets see, signing up for the next psychology uni term, and getting a bunch of stuff for home… Not all for today obviously…

It’s raining a lot here in Australia recently, perfect weather for jogging, at least for me  What’s interesting is I used to hate running when I was young, but worked out daily, and now I actually really enjoy running, and it takes a little more motivation to initiate working out. But both make me feel healthy and positive, and I increasingly appreciate and want them in my life :muscle:

Since I don’t have a car and only a bicycle at the moment, the rain is not ideal now though, as much as I love it from growing up in Europe

Sending you love, positivity and good vibes to stay strong today

Thank you beautiful friend for your support.

To be honest… outside of my parents and brother (who live over a thousand kms away), every single friend i have is from back home also. Ive sort of lost touch with alot of them when i moved. I have 1 sort of friend here in my province. An old coworker of mine. Shes a lovely woman but extremely busy and our friendship hasnt been very consistent. So ive sort of given up on it. I really dont have people to just talk to. It probably would help to get my mind off of things. I became such an introvert leaving that old lifestyle behind. Which is fine. But I still would like to find that connection to others.

I do find that the longer you live without outside connections the more isolated we become and the harder it is to find connections. Super hard when we all have such busy lives.
Are you able to join a book club or another type of social group (our library has knit night, game night…etc) so you know no alcohol involved…may be w good way to meet and possibly connect with someone.
Always welcome to log on here and chat :people_hugging:

Have as good a day as you can all. Sober and clean. Love.

My manager overheard me complaining to a colleague about being tired and having to wait for my vacation another 2 months. So she offered me some extra days off, paid in full. I only needed to ask for it. I did. She complimented me on taking care of myself and gave me the 3 days I asked for. I like my manager :sunglasses:

Day 47 check in:
Feeling good, but also emotional and tired. Work has me travelling and on the grind A LOT!
Didn’t make the gym last night or today as I’ve been so tired.
Hopefully tomorrow on my day off before I work the weekend :confounded:
Hope y’all are doing well x

Day 2-4-1.

I wonder if that’s a sign that multi purchase offers are coming my way today? :joy::joy:.

Heading into Liverpool to see my mum.

Still limping with painful blisters from the weekend exertions.

Still sober. :slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face:

Morning,
Day 480
We’re a week into our caravan holiday, we’ve just spent an amazing week in NE England exploring castles, beaches and villages. We’re moving to North Yorkshire today for another 5 days. No worries about drinking but my partner has had wine a few nights. Seeing him the next day strengthens me more each time.
We’re having some work done on the house while we’re away which won’t be finished by the time we get home so we’re going to have to carry on living in the caravan in the garden for a while, hope we’re not too fed up of each other by then!

Hey Dana,

Long time no speak but I’m so so glad you used your toolkit and your experience to get through. Remember there was a time where you’d have looked at that toolkit and still used. I am so proud that you made the healthy choices.

You have come through so much and I am so pleased you have continued on your path. We’re on opposite sides of the world but I’m only ever a message away if you feel like you need to discuss anything.

Keep acknowledging the thoughts that come into your head, just don’t give them value. They no longer have a value or place in your world because you have better things, more valuable things in your life now.

Sending big hugs your way :people_hugging::people_hugging:

@PinkyP

I’m so pleased you’re having a good time away. I’m glad you use the resolve of seeing your husband drinking as a way of reinforcing your thoughts. Keep that strong mindset going.

Now you’re coming into my universe of Yorkshire, named Gods own County for a reason, so if you need a virtual tour guide or someone to let you know some places to visit please let me know. There are so many beautiful places, castles and gems around here you’ll never fit them in with 5 days, plus it’s so beautiful you might just end up staying!

Keep up the resolve lovely lady!

Hi
I’d forgotten you were in Yorkshire. Yes please to the recommendations. We plan to visit Robin Hood’s Bay, Whitby, Filey, have a look at Castle Howard. Maybe Scarborough as I’ve never been and feel like I should.
But send any ideas my way please, always prefer a locals suggestion over a website. Thanks so much :sparkling_heart:

Scarborough is more commercial but the castle is lovely, Ripon Cathedral is beautiful.

Give Knaresborough a visit and take a look around the Mother Shibden Cave and trail, the river, aqueduct and castle there are beautiful, it is very hilly though.

Other places to consider should be Bolton Abbey, Gordale scar Ravine, Skipton and Skipton Castle. If you want to pop into West Yorkshire if you go to Skipton, Ilkley moor, Cow and calf rocks (have afternoon tea and cakes at the original Betty’s tea rooms) and there are some beautiful trails through to Addingham and Burley which are very picturesque.

Day 11

Got a new phone and have been busy setting everything back up. I’m giving my old one to a friend who has been in prison for 6 years on drug-related charges. He’s getting released Friday! He’s a good guy with a good heart, he just struggles with addiction like the rest of us. His family struggles with money, so I’m happy I can give him a new (to him) phone at least.

Was a bit anxious earlier, but went for a walk and that helped. I’m going to an AA meeting tomorrow at noon. I’ve asked my mom to drive me for accountability. Right now, if she doesn’t drive me, I’ll probably talk myself out of it. Hopefully it won’t always be necessary. But I’m very new at this and still nervous. I’d really like to make some local sober friends, since most of my other ones are big drinkers. After the meeting, I’ll walk home so I can process everything and get a little exercise.

Well, that’s it for now.
