Checking in daily to maintain focus #56

I went 38 days without using my credit cards. I relapsed just now. I, as usual, bought stuff I don’t need. I’m back to square one. I used my virtual credit card so I had to buy my stuff online. I buy most of my stuff online, anyway.

Beating an addiction only works if you want it to work. I want to stop but at the same time I don’t. At this moment I don’t feel any guilt or shame like I usually do because the addiction has a big hold on me. I wish it was the other way around.

Embarking on a very Dutch adventure this morning. Biked to a port in a polder. Now taking an hour boat trip, together with about a 100 other nature lovers, to a man made nature preserve island group in the middle of the greatest (man made) lake in the country to visit my cousin who has a summer job as a warden there. And watch some birds. Sober and clean. Have as good a day as you can friends. Love.
Pic is some sheep trying to stop me from getting there.

Good morning day 145
Ready for the weekend. Nothing big planned, the household needs some catching up, laundry, weekly shop, mealplan and general tidy-up.
Maybe cinema with the family. Oppenheimer is still to watch. Although I wouldn’t mind seeing Barbie a second time :ribbon::blush:

No, polar bears are not native to Britain. Picture is from the visit to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park yesterday :grinning:

I like your idea of giving yourself green light to slip with sweets 3x in a week, gonna do the same. I’m trying to cut off extra sugar but it’s so difficult (mostly bcs of ice-cream), I had to reset my counter so many times already… I even delete it twice but always to make it again.

Days without alcohol - 29
I feel healthier, happier, I start making plans for when my kids will go back to school/playgroup, maybe some cursus, definitely books. Does it mean that my brain is starting to work better? I hope

Sober Saturday will be somewhat predictable. A walk with Willow into town, coffee and stroll back. I like simple.

Checking in Day 25, coffee in bed before starting a busy day. Hairdressers then off to a family party. It should be a really nice day. The sun is poking out from behind the clouds and the rain has stopped.

Thank you to those that come on to share such impressive milestones. It is so inspiring.

Wishing everyone a peaceful and sober Saturday.

Edit to add, the hairdressers is a coincidence, I am not the kind of person to go to have my hair done for a family party. I forgot to brush my hair after the shower at the gym yesterday

Funny thing once I started to use this technique with sugar / sweets I started to think for implementing this with Junk Food too (but not doing it atm, feels like to much to handle at once). Also I noticed that you crave more junk food after eating sweets. Sugar / Sweets is a bigger priority here. So I started this healthy conversation in my head and then - boom - the other voice in my head appeared and he’s like: - ‘‘Heeeey, man, that’s a great idea!! We should do this with alcohol too, yeah man’’ :joy: - yeap that was addict mind entering conversation and it was pathetic of him :joy: he was banned from the party emediatly  that was funny to notice :joy:

Anyway, I suggest never to try hard with foods, sugars. Take it easy at beginning. This is more like marathon, than sprint (at least for me) - so I also let myself to use some honey or stevia, fruits. Maybe in the future I will remove stevia or honey or limit some fruits. But actually what I learned - is that with time, when blood sugars and insulin stabilizes, you just don’t want sweets, almost not touching stevia. I like some honey in my tea on weekends. Sweet’s start to feel very artificial and you just don’t crave it. That is the magic I am seeking for. After this I just don’t even want to go back.
And we don’t even started to talk about the health benefits here.

Day 952,

Last day of my holiday in Austria. Anxiety and tension is kicking in. Need to go home, but not looking forward to that and my upcoming treatment. I feel the feels, just a little scared boy inside, who feels alone and not understood in this world .

Thank You. Throat singing. I love it too. It’s very powerful technique. Some monks, for example Tibetan uses this technique to activate some brain waves. Anyway, always loved the deep roots of humanity. Pop music, pop culture, it can be ok if we do not loose our minds on it and use it with good intention, but it can also be very destructive force.

I am so sorry Rob, I hope home provides some comfort and relief to the anxiety. Be kind to that scared little boy, he is carrying a lot :people_hugging:
