Checking in daily to maintain focus #58

Hey Paul, Sorry I missed your 3 years. I remember “liking” your post while working and thinking I’ll drop a congrats message later. Obviously, I forgot, but not intentional at all. You were such a supportive friend, helping me get thru those early days and I’m forever grateful. :heartpulse:
Congratulations!!
:tada:

:sunny: Morning Check In :sunny:
Day 591
Had a rough time waking up today. Ive been struggling with waking up and getting going lately. I am sure it has to do with my eating habits and not being very active. So today i am changing that :relieved: I am currently on my way to pick up my sons formula for the month and then once home I will workout. Have a nice salad with chicken for lunch. Then off to my husbands job site for 2pm to bring him a coffee  Hoping today will be better energy wise. Have a great day everyone :butterfly:

Weed - day 46
Alcohol - day 5
Cigarettes - day 4

Feeling much better today. Trying to keep myself distracted.

Got some work done. Took my bicycle to the shop to get it fixed. Went to the bank to get some things sorted out. Went to the hardware shop and bought some stuff for a plantation project I have been planning. Got an electrician to come in and fix some stuff around the house. Got a couple of labourers to clear the area for the plantation project.

Also walked 24 kms (about 15 miles), to burn away the anger and the anxiety. Finished an audiobook and started on another one.

It’s amazing how much time I have, now that I am not high all the time. My blood pressure has also dropped from “very high” to normal. That’s making me feel a little weird.

Overall today was a good day. Now I plan to watch some Netflix. Got a series I need to finish. Two more episodes left.

I craved a cigg hardcore today. But I know it’s me trying to find a easy way out. Thinking it’ll magically make class fly by but I know it will just disappoint me and loved ones. Got to keep going forward

Second check in,

Visit to my parents apartment went fine just some tension. So the house I grew up in will be gone soon. Ate together at a bistro and maid a little walk. A new chapter too in a sense. Found an advertisement for voluntary work. Will call tomorrow, putting it down here for accountability. It’s at a elderly home. I think it might be a nice fit. Tomorrow morning a zoom call with the company doctor, not looking forward to that one. But can’t avoid it

Checking in, my cold developed and now really tired. I managed the full day at work but the cravings are quite strong now. I have eaten to try and help. Will try a bath now. I just need to get through the next hour and then the cravings should pass.

@hisharleyquinn1318 Way to go Francis – you are crushing it!
@looking4support Glad you are doing better James! Grateful you are hanging in there with you sobriety journey. My goodness – the fatigue and body aches are both intense symptoms for the beginning days. It will not last my friend – this too shall pass.
@noshame Yeah to night classes. You are doing amazing my friend – do not listen to that addict voice – you are crushing it :muscle:
@sobreityForMe So good to see you on the check in thread and killing it with 6 days! Keep em coming
@RRB welcome to the community and hell of a job getting yourself back on the sobriety track. 87 days is amazing and I know you can keep showing up for yourself. I’m sure you have many of tools in your sobriety toolbox but glad to see that you have added checking in here with us to the list. I do find a lot of support and comfort here and it is also great for accountability.
@jennyh yuck to the cold! I do hope the bath helps. Not sure if you have games downloaded on your phone but I spent a lot of time doing crosswords, find the object, sudoku, and word finder type silly games to keep my mind busy. It really did help me pass the time while cravings were hard. We are here to chat with if you would like to that too or instead. Keep strong my friend – the cravings will go away soon and the more you abstain the easier it will be to handle them.

Thanks lovely. I am bathed and enjoying getting cosy. I have lovely smells around me from the bath and my candle. Cravings are gone.

I downloaded games on my phone the first time I was here and that was really successful, good idea!

Update: It’s not over yet. But we have our appointment with the immigration services tomorrow and we’re hoping it goes well.

I’m so ready for this to be fucking done. I’ve had enough beaurocratic bullshit these past few weeks to last a lifetime.

As a side note, we’ve decided to name our aggressive fridge Brutus Maximus. The more my dad hates it, the more attached I’m growing to the old thing.

Welcome and congrats on your 87 days!

I remember this AA meeting I went to where this older gentlemen came back for his first time in over a decade bc he relapsed after 27 years. It’s a great reminder for everyone that we are never cured. We will forever be what we are and recovery needs to last a lifetime. Glad you’re here
