Checking in daily to maintain focus #65

That happens to me sometimes, well, more often than I’d like it to, at least. I use a guided meditation called “Softly back to sleep” on the Calm app and it nearly always works for me. I end up having to find my ear buds when I wake up but oh well! I hope sleep continues to improve for you and you get some uninterrupted sleep soon. I go through periods of insomnia but knock on wood I’ve had some good sleeps recently. It makes everything easier, in my opinion.

Checking in. I made it though another night. Had a nice dinner with everyone and was having fun for awhile. Everyone was drinking and was getting louder and it really triggered me. I went for a short walk- it was too windy and cold to go far- then headed to my room with a book. I didn’t sleep well, but i got up early this morning and took a long walk on the beach and watched the sunrise. I was feeling really good til breakfast time when i realized everyone was already drinking. Ugh!!
It’s much warmer and not as windy today. I sat out on the deck for awhile and read. I think im going to head back down to the beach and take another walk. Im really struggling on this trip this year. I’m usually not this triggered being around people who are drinking. I’ll probably need to check in again later. We’re supposed to have a cookout and corn hole tournament tonight. It’s usually a good time, but I’m a little nervous.

Hello, I am new here, just joined today. I am starting my sobriety today and wanted to join a daily check in thread. That has helped me in the past and hoping it will help me again. I look forward to reading everyone’s post. Thanks for taking the time to read mine.

Hi Jeanine

Welcome to the daily! I’m Marie and I am 53 days sober from alcohol with tremendous help and comfort coming from my fellow dailies. It’s a much easier life with sober people in it than not.

Glad you’re here :slightly_smiling_face:

@Chevy55 Thank you for bringing up the not-suited-for-white-collar-office work topic . I don’t think I am either! I was successful in that realm in a way, but not really. My health suffered from bad air, long weird hours, understaffing, bad food, bad lighting and sitting. The boxes of fried food! The place was a death trap. If I could choose, I’d be outside. So many possibilities! I’m slowly getting back in shape and want to stay that way. :white_check_mark:

Checking in 56 days sober. Day after hip surgery. Doing well . Sleep was tough just because no side sleeping and not in my own bed. Pain is only soreness right now. Thank you God for being there to make surgery a successful event for a brighter future for me.

Thank you all my TS FRIENDS who wished me well and sent beautiful thoughts my way.:orange_heart::heart_eyes::hibiscus::rose::cherry_blossom:

Hi lovelies, checking in Day 23 AF. Rush of cravings out of nowhere this afternoon at work, where the h did they come from. And The Voice saying oh well, all good, just get next week’s follow up hospital appointment out of the way with good test results and then you’re free to get back to it. Madness.

Checking in. I haven’t been here for a while, I was sad over my surgery getting postponed and relapsed in smoking (I will have to give it up again in three weeks), but otherwise I was ok. Now it’s getting worse as some difficult anniversaries are coming up, but I will get over it in 1-2 weeks and then I’m planning to look forward and go on.
I started to practice making clay-faces again, I haven’t done it in a year or so. It was so good to work on them again, it’s really meditative. I enrolled to a sculpting course too, can’t wait to start to learn and do the assignments.

Day 3. Absolutely shattered again this morning. I got up early though, made the little man pancakes and we both took the dog a walk before school. I had a fair amount of anxiety while working, the phone was none stop. Made it through though, did my best and got positive feedback. My afternoon was better.

I really appreciate this platform and reading all your stories. It’s exactly what I need, non judgemental empathetic people. Knowing that life sucks sometimes but we can all make it through together.

Its strange that I can’t speak as freely like this to anyone but I can to all of you.

It feels real and I feel positive for the future.

Thanks all
