End of day here at 7:44pm. Wife thinks I’m nuts for continuously getting up at 4’ish am. But I tell her that’s my 16 hour day. I enjoy the quiet of the morning and don’t care for tv all night.

Seems I popped my meniscus a bit halfway through my leg workout today so that caused a bit of pain to push through. It’s a bit throbby currently. Hopefully be a bit better tomorrow, but it’s an upper body day regardless so all good.

The treadmill run training tomorrow could be interesting. See how that all goes.

Regardless a good day, I hope you all had one also. Sleep well :peace_symbol:

@Laner That’s terrible  I can’t imagine going thru something like that :people_hugging: You’re such a strong, kind person. I know he appreciated you staying with him so he wasn’t alone in his final moments. It’s completely understandable why you’d experience a craving after that, and glad your strength came thru in the end :muscle:

@Millie_1987 I don’t care if it’s your 5th reset or 135th(which is how many resets I had before finally getting a handle on this), never stop trying  You’ll get it to stick

@Jesile I hope Peanut’s alright  Poor boy :crying_cat_face: While I do pay attention to calories in my diet and aim to stay below 2,000 a day, the fact I was drinking almost 2,000 calories a day, before adding food to it, is the reason I’m not bothered by a few extra here and there. No way I could eat to those numbers every day like that!

Man, I slept like dog :poop: Went to bed normal time, was really hot for some reason(maybe the humidity ) My left shoulder and neck tensed up and I couldn’t get comfortable. Then my nose started getting stuffy until it was totally blocked. I tried blowing it and sucking it down, but it wouldn’t budge. So now I had to pee, and used nasal spray while I was in there. Didn’t help. Layed in bed trying to breathe thru my desert of a mouth while my stomach started growling to a point I couldn’t ignore. Got up at 3:33 to have a snack, layed back down around 4:15, woke up at 7 :sob: Funny thing is, I felt pretty good all day. Just a couple lows at the expected times. Hmm.

Today made me believe indoor heating is the major culprit of my symptoms. It was so dry, my hair popped when I brushed it, and probably would’ve sparked in the dark :boom: My throat started up with that sore, dry cough and my eyes were burning. I dug out my humidifier that I didn’t even use last year, cleaned it, and got her going. Definitely helped  Now I’m planning on hitting the hay shortly after my daughter. Goodnight

@browngecko Great to hear your plan and I believe it is solid! Grateful that you don’t have any alcohol in the house. Yes – you will be ok. We are right here for you as well ODAAT

Never too late to change up what you are doing. We spend way too much time working so you might as well enjoy it. Look forward to seeing what you come up with
@jesile It is really funny how a small sugary treat has us thinking about the calories and didn’t think twice when reaching for the bottle. A real sign of healthy healing. So sorry to hear about Peanut. My goodness that has got to be scary and unnerving. I hope that something will come clear on how these wounds are appearing :hugs:

Oh this is amazing to read Thomas! Much love and strength – looking forward to celebrating 1 week with you tomorrow :hugs:
@chevy55 Itoo enjoyed waking up at 4 am and enjoying the quiet hum of the morning. It was super relaxing and satisfying. Looking forward to one day getting that routine back myself. Sorry to hear about you popping your meniscus – hope you feel some relief soon and please take care of yourself.
@just_laura Yeah that heat can be so damaging and we forget when the cold season starts. Glad you are feeling better with the humidifier. Hope for a better nights rest for you tonight

Checking in on Monday evening
705 days free of alcohol and weed
1120 days free of cigarettes
Was a slow start to the day as I didn’t sleep well last night but gratefully I did manage to get a lot done today. Even managed a walk and workout session. Been hard to keep pushing through the pain but i feel like I need to as just not doing so is very depressing and hard in its own way.
Super tired tonight – looking forward to my bed which i’m heading to now. Sweet dreams my friends

Wishing everyone a wonderful addiction free day / evening - sending you all so much love

Meeting my fellow experience workers this morning. There’s some progress there, in positioning and profiling ourselves within the big mental health institution we all work for. Been interesting to watch and participate in.

I’m doing another trial nursing shift tomorrow, at an Amsterdam detox facility. If anybody has any tips beyond the obvious I’d like to hear. Thursday one day of normal work and following that ten days of vacation. Yay! I can do with some time for myself, even when I’m not sure yet what it is I’ll do with it. Whatever I will do, it will be done sober and clean.

Let’s have as good a day as I we all can friends. Clean and sober or nothing will come from it. And let’s keep on working on building ourselves a better life. One day at a time and all that. Love.

I see this as both a blessing and a hardship. When things like this happen I believe that God/ Universe/ Fate/ Whatever put you in that place to ensure that the young man did not pass alone. If you were not going to be the right person for the job, someone else would have been walking behind that young man. To me that means, the right person for him and also that you have the strength of character and inner reserve to be able to witness what you saw and survive it. I don’t believe that things happen to us that we are not able to bear.

:people_hugging: to you while you work through this

Alexandra Streliski was amazing last night. Captivating, immense piano talent, and also a very funny and warm person to boot. Glad we went, I was considering flaking…

London has changed so much around Euston and Kings Cross area, it was nice to see it all and stretch the legs afterwards for a stroll. Didn’t sleep well last night, but let’s get Tuesday going regardless.

@Tragicfarinelli I’m jelous, it looks like that concert was amazing!

Day 682

Yesterday I had a mini-nervous breakdown, cleaned the house, did some work, I’m slightly below target on the bonus opportunity thing but still… I’m going for it with all my might. The plan is to use the little bonus to get myself a new phone. Mine is over 5 years old and in excellent condition… Might get a decent price for it in Cex when I’m next in the UK. So I don’t technically need a new phone, but I really really want one.

I also started reading Oedipus Rex for my literature course. For a text written thousands of years ago it’s pretty spicy. Yeah, it’s the one about the bloke who accidentally killed his dad and ended up marrying his mum. So, naturally, the Greek Gods sent the plague to his kindom. Today’s horror movies got nothing on the shit the ancients used to come up with.

@MrFantastik Have a peaceful night :night_with_stars:
@Amy30 I find those ancient stories often difficult to get into, but always really fascinating. I also enjoy many modern retellings.
@Tragicfarinelli Glad to hear you had a great time at the concert.
@Lastry Thanks for sharing your view how we are always in the right spot in the right time. I feel like that aswell but also love to be reminded of that. Especially in hard times.
@SoberWalker Glad to hear your day at work went well. Thanks for sharing this great picture  Hoping your mood improves soon.
@Mno Good luck with your trial nursing day. I would just recommend on focusing on this moment right now. Try to not get carried away by your thoughts, judgements and emotions. Just stay with the now. That way you will present your truest self, and that’s the best you can present. Message me any time you feel like needing to chat
@JazzyS You’re a star :star2:
@icebear Nice to see you checking in. How is life?
@Just_Laura I feel you on the central heating. My nights turn into a mess if it’s to hot or to dry. Hope your humidifier will help.
@Chevy55 Stay nuts. It’s the only way

Panic attacks are retreating. I had a great time yesterday at the saune, slept quite well last night and today I am only experiencing very uncomfortable hormonal waves but no panic. I’ll take that.
Kid is still sick, home schooling it is then. I developed a bit of a sore throat. Let’s hope that’s all.
Trying to get into the moderator role here. All very new and exciting. Dealing with flagged posts, messaging members.
I have a class to teach about noon, groceries, chores. Yoga in the afternoon and maybe a meeting in the evening. Nothing wild. Just that nice life.

Today’s picture is the beach in our favourite North Sea spot a few summers ago.

Peace and love for life always :lotus:

Day 270

Early start after a rough sleep. Adrenaline popped me awake at 230. Haven’t had too many nights like that lately but it makes sense. I’m healing. No not linear! It’s frantic holiday time. That vibe settles into my skeleton a bit. Hurry up and buy. I’m going to go get pie and bread ingredients at an ungodly hour since I’m up, ya know? I think it opens at 6. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:. No crowds! I can even browse a bit. I think I would like a little fir tree.

Lots of love. Enjoy your day.

Day 9. The cravings are still there, but they’re getting less intense.

I’ve been trying to keep myself busy. It’s incredible how much extra time I have now that I’ve stopped drinking.

This morning, I went out for breakfast by myself, cleaned my room, and cooked lunch. Now, I’m passing the time listening to a moderately dull post-apocalyptic audiobook.

My wife is away until Saturday, and normally, this would’ve been the perfect chance for me to binge drink without anyone around. That’s what makes it so tempting :disappointed_relieved:
