Day 27! Still going strong! There’s no turning back now. I’ve already prepped my food for the work week. Church this morning and work this afternoon.
@climbin Great to see you posting. Was just wondering about you. It does take time to get life back on track and start feeling comfortable with your daily sober habits / routines. The early days (first year) should just be about you and helping you grow / heal. I am sorry that you are feeling lonely. Can you join classes / groups or events to help you get out more and meet people? Mingling with others can be fun and helpful in engaging and does not have to be a romantic connection. Just keep pushing forward friend.
@Dustysprungfield Dave that sounds like a perfect Sunday! Hope you have a wonderful time. I do love a good antique or classic car show.
@Freckles2 What a great breakthrough! Grateful you were able to revisit your 10 year old self and see that you were not at fault. You were not to blame. I am so sorry that the grownups in your life did not show up for you. So awesome that you are working on your sobriety and gaining some good days
Whatever the reason for the journey you are doing it now and building up some good habits. Keep up the great work - ODAAT! I am sure with your tools you will be able to keep up the momentum once the baby is born. ![]()
@Jette Sounds like a lovely Sunday! Enjoy ur day friend ![]()
@Freckles2 I LOVE this for u!!! Being able to realize that it wasnt ur responsibility, that ur not at fault for what happened to u as a child. This is huge! You, being sober, are now giving little Freckles2 what she needed and deserved all along. Uv become the person that she could rely on and depend on. How beautiful!! Sounds like uv really made a beautiful life for urself
Im proud of u!
@sober_ken Sending u strength during this difficult time ![]()
@Mno Hope u have a great day at work Menno. Sending hugs and healing vibes ur way ![]()
Day 1281
Morning Check In ![]()
Boy did I NOT want to go to work today. But I honestly couldnt think of a good enough reason to not go, so I went. My eyes tho are bothering me immensely. I think Im experiencing dry eyes bcuz they are stinging. Im wearing contacts right now which probably doesnt help. I did bring my glasses but i dont like wearing them in public bcuz the lenses are huge. For anyone thats seen the show Trailer Park Boys, i feel like i look like Bubbles with them on
lol I have extremely bad eyesight, especially in my right eye where I had my retina detach and needed surgery many years ago.
Anyyyyywayyyyy, I just got to work. Will work my 8 hour shift and head home. Have to bathe my son tonight and wash my husbands work clothes. Thats about it. Hope everyone is well! Sending love, hugsz and healing for anyone hurting today ![]()

@sober_ken Kenny- so sorry to hear of your loss. Keeping you and your family in my prayers.
I got a good chuckle from this! I hope your eyes start feeling better soon! Dry eyes is not fun.
@Jette congrats on day 27!!
@Freckles2 Congrats on the baby!! I hope you are feeling well, Mama. How inspiring your story is and thank you for sharing. Reading your childhood part was heart breaking- you were never at fault nor was it your responsibility. I am so sorry you were treated so poorly. Lovely to hear you found your person and relationship is full of love and respect. Your daughter will be so loved and hoping lil one doing well! Also grateful you healed from your trauma and are doing well.

143 days for me today, I’m going through a really hard time, but I share about it. I’m in a halfway house and then I’ll be going to sober living.. I have been battling this 23 years, recently I stopped doing what works and today is the day I start doing them again…first I live second by second…i can’t even live minute by minute yet..each second at a time works for me…i don’t project…i say positive affirmations in the mirror (legit, it works))!) I do at least two zoom meetings a day along with an in person meeting…talk about it…my next step is find a sponsor..these are what helps me…you got this..one second at a time ![]()

Trailer park boys is a classic! Lol
Checking in on day 254 alcohol free
Traveling for a week. I was up all night worrying about the past, present (dog + chocolate), and future (new job and my capabilities). What a mess. My dog is still okay. The rest will have to work itself out. I’m trying to tell myself that worrying this week will do absolutely nothing for me. It’s all going to turn out okay, and I’m going to try to be present with the ocean.
Day 39 sober
Going great
I started trying to limit my nicotine intake today. Currently trying to only smoke or vape once every 3 hours. If it’s too difficult I may have to lower the delay to once every 2 hours, but so far I’m handling it. Doing this should help make going cold-turkey in a month or two much easier ![]()
Hey great idea! Glad ur having a good day!
@butterflymoonwoman I am so sorry your eyes are bothering you. The dryness can be a bitch to deal with. Hope you can find some relief and hopefully be home from work soon. My ex had think bottlecap lenses that he refused to wear for similar reasons but you do need to do what you need to make sure you can see. Sure you don’t look as bad as you are envisioning in your mind. He did finally get lasik to correct his issues. Are you able to still get your surgery? ![]()
@systematicsupernova WOW that is awesome on your 2 weeks and that you were able to see your progress when you were feeling sad. Grateful that you can keep pushing forward and stack up the days. Shows real strength my friend. You are doing the hard things. Be kind to yourself and take the time your body is asking for – I slept so much in my early days.
@rachel1101 Well done on your 143 days and thanks for sharing all that you are doing to work on your recovery. I am so sorry that you are dealing with a hard time. I do know that we all have our ups and downs and we need to remember that they will not last. Reach out for your support to help you through. We are here for you as well
Keep up the amazing work!
@madds Great news that your dog is ok. I love that you are on the ocean. Love the cool ocean breeze and the calmness. Do what you can to stay int eh present and enjoy your time. Your new job will be great and you can address that when you get back. ![]()
@john_connon1337 Great news on cutting back and setting up a quick date. You are making some impressive changes in your life my friend. Keep at it. Our new sober lives are filled with possibilities and there is nothing we can’t do. Our addictions did not make life fun. Life is fun. We are finally starting to live it and now can actually remember it too ![]()
Checking in on Sunday night
I did get my energy sorted to get in a good swim. Now relaxing and will hopefully be making a pizza for dinner. The dough is just about ready and my vegan cheese looks like good too (have not tried it yet). Picking up some tomatoes from my moms and will use the fresh basil I finally got my hands on. Kinda excited LOL. I do hope this turns out well. The cheddar cheese I made a few months ago was nice but only as a spreadable. It did not set well to be a sandwich cheese.
Maybe some reading, coloring and knitting in my future… we shall see. I would love a nap LOL but will fight the need to sleep
Wishing everyone a wonderful addiction free day - sending you all so much love

My glasses arent THAT bad honestly lol but they are thicker than the average adult lenses. I had my retinal detachment surgery long ago (practically as soon as 1/2 my vision went black in my right eye). They repaired it well. Its just it effects my vision a bit. I never thought about lasik tho.
I did use dry eye drops in my eyes at work and its helping… for now. Will probably wear my glasses all day tmrw to give my eyes a break ![]()
I cant wait to hear how ur vegan cheese turned out! Is it made with soy? Ive never made cheese. I always thought it was a difficult process
