Checking in daily to maintain focus #84

Day 265 AF :flexed_biceps:t3::folded_hands:t3:

Had a lovely weekend spent with family. Lots to be thankful for. Not ready for the work week…

It’s my baby girl (black labs) birthday today. Can’t believe she is 8 today. Where does the time go?!

Its fantastic you are still here. I personally have a very large number of resets though now im approaching 3 months where as for years i could barely go 2 or 3 days when trying to quit..

Definitely not a loser. A loser would not check in. Delete the app and stay in active addiction. I absolutely assure you to keep trying. My resets wreaked havoc on me emotionally and mentally. Making me feel all sorts of levels of failure. Im litterally over 100 resets on this app and now finally feeling a sense of freedom and fullfillment in life. There will be a time that sobriety sticks.

Day 168. Pt 2.

It’s been a long time since I’ve needed a second check-in, but I am feeling so agitated today. My nervous system is fried and I am so tired. Tried to nap. Couldn’t. Would really love a couple of drinks to let me sleep for a bit. Even poorly. I just want to close my eyes for a while. Let my shoulders fall.

My brain is so uncomfy today.

Checking in, and what a difference a day makes. Had a big argument with my spouse, about 90% of it is stuff that has happened in the past, recent past, but past. We need to improve communication in the moment. And I still won’t drink about it.

Thank you. I am super excited to begin this journey

Nope. Losers quit. You’re not quitting on quitting. Try again. What can you do differently this time to catch yourself before you relapse?

Day 13 alcohol free.

Today I was very anxious and high cortisol and when my fiance asked what I wanted from the store I said ā€œwineā€ …he came back with an ice cream sandwich, THANK heavens… :folded_hands:or else I would not be on day 13 so idk I’m obviously not doing as well as I want to be. Need to get my head in the game: But thankful I made it through the day sober! I’m also coming off some benzos which I as taking for 30 days or so, so idk why I do that to myself, (not worth it) .. makes me very negative. I need to remember my why.

@Butterflymoonwoman your check in really inspired me today! Not only because youre doing so well with sobriety and kicking butt and dealing with so much with your son! … but that you’re also looking for new ways to improve your health with that healthy drink.. and I really want to try it!

Checking in day 262. Nice weather, terrible allergies. Grateful for the big local outdoor AA gathering, families, kids, people in unity and recovery. Refreshing and real after the crazy-making news cycle. The world and its people are really mostly good. This I believe.

I slept well. It’s another Sunday here (Tweede Paasdag or second day of Easter) and I’ll work it. Good for my income. I’m glad I have this job to go to. I hope I can help some of the folks in my care some. It sure helps me to keep my own focus. Still so after nearly 2500 days. Life’s always better sober and clean, even when it’s hard.

Relapses happen as part of addiction and it’s paramount to pick ourselves up immediately after. Every day without using our DOC’s makes it slightly easier to make it through the next one sober and clean. But the opposite is true even more so: every day we indulge in 'm makes it much harder to be sober the day after. So quit now. Get help.

I’m going to make today as good a day as I possibly can and hope you will do the same friends. Sober and clean. Much love from my commute.

@Leveller Great to see you and Alfie checking in Col!

I used to be a runner, but I switched to power walking, which I find much better for both my knees and hips! It took some time to build that kind of endurance, but I see so many people running in the morning, and you can tell by their form that many of them are in pain. I feel fabulous now. I know that switching from running to walking might look to some like losing physical power, but it’s actually not. Walking has scientifically better long-term results than running, especially regarding your testosterone levels. Plus, since you swim, you need to add something less endurance-heavy; the body needs a balance of yin and yang energy. If you only do ā€œyangā€ activities, eventually it creates some sort of injury. I say this because it’s at the core of yoga practice.

Hello everyone!

DAY 221 AF
DAY 188 smoke-free

I am still totally cortisol-overdosed. I managed to sleep a bit, but I obviously woke up at 3 a.m., when cortisol levels are at their highest. After lunch, I went for a long bike ride (more than 20km), which I did in just one hour  . That shows the level of my adrenaline, especially considering I didn’t sleep the night before and spent the day cooking!

I will skip any commentary on ā€œthemā€ because I am officially over them. I spoke to both my brothers yesterday; I explained to the one in Poland what happened and told him I need help planning my exit. He said he was shocked about how long I lasted in that toxic environment! I also spoke to the brother who was present at lunch and told him just it was time for me to move on and leave this place.

Both will help me, as they know people here and I have been away for 20 years in looking for a temporary position (at least three months) so I can claim unemployment afterward and have an income for a while.

Since I have never used unemployment benefits in Europe, it should last about 18 months, which is long enough to settle somewhere else and finally make a fresh start. I think I am strong enough in my sobriety and my commitment to my long-term plans to take a summer job at a campsite or somewhere similar by the water and in nature.

Knowing four languages will certainly help me. It’s time to move on, but I will not forget anything that happened, nor will I pretend it didn’t. As for my sister, I am officially done; that woman is finished with me. I will stick to the basics. She will definitely get nasty about me ignoring her, but I don’t give a flying f**k. She is a nasty person.

Today I am grateful for:

  • An exit plan.

  • Counting down the days until I leave.

  • Taking care of myself.

Wishing everyone a solid 24 sober hours!

You badass

People can suck
Keep your cool no matter what and keep getting better.

Ego means your forcing yourself right in anothers face for either nun or no good reason (bad)
Pride is doing what you think is right in your heart

Both are bad without the other
