Checking in: day 24

Early morning check-in since I am nervous. My mom is coming over and she is always a huge trigger. Everytime after she leaves the first thing I think is: I need a drink. This is the first time I see her since I quit drinking. Thinking about how to deal with this but my mind is a bit blank. Probably will check in again after she leaves.

Stay safe and sober everyone! :purple_heart:

As soon as she leaves get cosy: warm drink, pj’s, blankets, favourite movie on or read a book…get really comfy. Ground yourself in safety and slowness. Slow and steady peaceful activity will soothe that wound from seeing family. Good luck.

If you need to, excuse yourself, and go in the other room, and post a ā€œHelp, I need helpā€ here on the site, and you will get replies. It will also help you feel very accountable. We are here with you.

831 days sober. Ready to bootcamp? No. Will I? Yes, because that exorcises my daemons as well as my body. Do what you need.

That is a very good idea. I think I will do that! Thank you!

Morning check-in

It’s a bank holiday, im off on Mondays anyhow, so no difference to me in truth. I slept really good, yet another night. I’m still taking my magnesium supplement in the evenings as well as melatonin, not sure if it’s placebo or not, but I’ll keep taking it.

Gonna get some cooking for the week done now, im back to work tomorrow. That’s ok, I enjoyed these 5 days off, all over I did some activities and met people instead of just being home alone all 5 days! :slightly_smiling_face:

You know what I admired in the past month? Your trust that you will read the signs when it’s time to move on.

And now there it is. I would have loved if the sign wasn’t so tough and hurtful, though. You deserve a healthy surrounding.

I believe in you. You will make a fresh new start with all the strenght you gained in your sobriety journey so far. And you will grow even more!

We are always here for you.

Thank you, Daniela! It’s been a long time coming… I just tried to hold on because I had different plans. I still have those same plans, but I’ll delay them for a season. It’s time to call things what they are, the disease is real and as bad as it looks, and I’m not going to feed it. I’m not going to lower my frequency to meet theirs; I’m going to reinforce my boundaries and get to work on my exit. I’m actually super excited about it.

Beautiful sunny Easter Sunday. Spring is all here, birds everywhere. Started the week with hosting a meeting. Great way to get going.
Going to do a bit of chores, take a nice bike ride to visit my inlaws later.

Peace and love always :lotus:

Checking in: day 24 part 2

So the parental units have left the building. My stepdad and the dogs came too which is overwhelmingly crowed in my tiny place. So stepdad and dogs went for a walk and my mom cleaned my kitchen and bathroom and vacumed. I got some cravings for a drink but more so for a big fat sandwich, which I am totally gonna make now! And skip the drink! Also, there is no alcohol in the house.

Thank you @Tragicfarinelli @Alisa and @DanielaJ for the words of encouragement this morning. They actually made me get out of bed and also feel very safe. I am going to follow @Tragicfarinelli ā€˜s advice and get cosy now and be kind to myself.

The smell of bleach is overwhelming but I am happy that…..

@Jaybeeem I hope you’re right. I hope it eventually sticks. I am going through SO much stuff in my head, and just can’t seem to get my priorities straight, I guess.

@TrustyBird Thanks. I don’t know what I can do differently. I’m sure it takes a lot more work than I can muster up right now. No excuses… I just am what I am.

Hope you both have a fantastic day! And thanks for trying to make me feel better.

As for checking in today.. my timer needs to be reset, but I don’t want to reset it till the relapse is over. I’m at work, thinking hard on the past weekend, and honestly kind of glad that the weekend is over. I’m liking work more and more as I can’t get in too much trouble as long I’m here.

Found out yesterday that someone at our church told my daughter that hunting easter eggs is a heathen practice and that she needs to look the other way when she sees churches hunting easter eggs. Now I feel I need to take her out of her sunday school class and make her sit in the adult class. I’m not good with confrontation, and I don’t like drama. My girl is getting older now and she would understand everything said in the adult class, but she really likes her other class because ā€œit’s more funā€. So I don’t know what to do. I’ve just been going over this situation in my mind ever since I heard about it.

Saw a beautiful sunrise this morning on the way to work. That was nice.

I don’t know what else to talk about really.

Good day to you all  I was quite productive today, did some serious cleaning in my kitchen. The state of kitchen got into undesirable condition - the stuff around became alive after certain time and started moving :joy: thought they’ll take the whole kitchen elsewhere! It’s super clean now, nothing is alive there except of me standing in there.

Have a great day :clap::wink:
