Daily Meditation Challenge

Did you click on the top itself. And get to the original post. My view presently doesn’t have the pencil. But when I click on the heading Meditation Challenge it takes me to the first post and there is a pencil thingy I can click on.

I have missed posting for a couple days but i have been participating. I am definitely out of routine and the longer I am sober the more I am understanding that I need structure and routine to be successful in situations. Recovery is really unreal, that amount of things that you end up unearthing and how glaringly obvious it becomes why you were so fucked up your whole life. Grateful to have a chance to rectify that!!!

10 whole mins of quiet mediation this morning… it is not easy and I can not do it with my eyes closed for this length of time. I have changed things up a little. I am now sitting up and using a candle to focus on I find that keeps my mind from wandering. Learning curve.

almost three minute, better than not trying at all

Formal 10 minutes. :white_check_mark:. Couldn’t remember, probably did it twice. Tried to watch the chest rise and fall but lots of runaway thoughts. Now to be mindful the rest of the night but should be okay to be lighthearted, no?

It took me forever to find this thread. I had to go through Brian’s page. :upside_down_face:

22 minute guided meditation today. I shared insight timer with my mom :yellow_heart:

All of the threads on TS right now are a little overwhelming. Going to try and stick with my main ones. I felt pressured to read everything and feel better after some meditation. :woman_in_lotus_position:t2::yellow_heart:

Went meditating, sitting up, eyes closed, still, calm, quiet, no music or guide. My mind wandered so I tried refocusing on breathing helped for a few, mind wandered again, tried mantra wandered again. Let everything go and checked the timer, five and a half minutes done. I’ll take it.

I just got back on insight timer. Great app. Started a beginner’s meditation course. I need to add meditation to my routine this year. It’s time.

How did you like it?
When I am doing mindfulness during group therapy I do not feel safe enough to close my eyes so I have always kept my eyes open. I found that I can focus on something and it still works, I can still visualize if I need to.

So update on my meditation. I cant remember which thread it was… maybe the gong bath thread? Doesn’t matter, what matters is @SassyRocks actually rocks! She shared a bluetooth sleep mask that I went ahead and ordered and I am in love. This baby coupled with Insight timer, creates meditation mumma out of me at night.

I am still doing the silent meditations in the morning, hooking in with my HP, handing my will over, making sure I am not trying to orchestrate my life and then at night I am enjoying a guided meditation via the Bluetooth mask. I havent gotten into the habit of disconnecting my bluetooth in the morning and am often wondering why the hell I can’t hear people on my phone. Progress not perfection.

So glad you love the mask!! It definitely upped my enjoyment of IT. I do wake up and try to remember to turn it off b4 falling back asleep. Also, I discovered I can pause my meditation as it begins via the app, then get settled into bed all cozy and prepared with the mask and hit the middle button and it starts up perfectly, so I don’t miss anything (like, Hello, this is Kenneth). :slightly_smiling_face:

I have been enjoying music from Theta Realms lately. The headphones really get deep with the binaural beats.

Any suggestions on guided meditation teachers or courses are very welcome!!

It wasn’t bad. Never ever thought of it. I was at the cliffs looking out to the ocean. Thought I’d walk 20 minutes. Sit and do the meditation challenge. I’m choosing 7 minutes. Then walk home. I thought about you mentioning that you did it with your eyes open. I thought that was weird :upside_down_face: so I gave it a try :joy: It was hard keeping my eyes open. They closed on me once and awhile. And of course there was this cute labradoodle walking by. He was sooo cute. But all in all it wasn’t bad. I think I’ll try it again.

Adding my name in as I try and restart a regular meditation practice. Aiming for 15 mins silent meditation. Once I can keep that up may extend the length. But got to get to regular practice first! Progress so far…

I’ve downloaded the plum village app and am going to start working my way through the dharma talks on that to develop my mindfulness practice. Also on YouTube, as well as guided meditations:
