Could use some help
Welcome @Vic11.11 its the perfect day for a day 1. What brings you here?
Hi!
I’ve tried everyday for the past two years.
I can’t do it alone
Very scared that I wont heal
I
Welcome @Vic11.11 lovely to have you here with us, stay connected, do it just today xxx
Thank you.
Nobody knows I’m dealing with this so it’s very lonely.
I have two boys and I need to stop this
No, you cant do it alone, I kept trying it for 5 years, the day I came here (111 days ago) changed everything xxx
Welcome, Vic
Day 1 is no doubt super tough, but this is a great place to start for support, understanding and a place to rest awhile as you find your bearings.
This community was where I started my journey into sobriety last year.
Happy to see you here!
111 days???
I can’t imagine!
Hope I can follow your steps!
Oh thank you.
Your experience is really helpful
I know wait until you meet people here with years of sobriety! They are the real heroes, they know how to do it and they are here for us, we will be fine xxx
I don’t know how to use this app very well
Welcome and congratulations on choosing to
stay sober today. I have found this place to be very helpful and full of loads of info and supportive people who have helped me through lots of tough moments. My advice is read around the threads and try to participate. The more active you are with others here the better your chances are. We are all here doing it with you one day at a time. You can do this!
Tell me about it, I didn’t to start with, you will learn soon x
All I can say is at the worst of my alcohol abuse I was drinking about 1.75 liters of vodka every couple of days.
It was such an insidious addiction that crept up on me and luckily I had the self awareness enough in my booze soaked brain to see that I was on a dark path to destruction and death.
I haven’t looked back since and I certainly don’t ever plan to.
I know sobriety isn’t a simple task and addiction is very personalized. Once it has its claws in you it doesn’t want to let you go.
I realized I’m stronger than my addiction and I fully believe that.
I acknowledge that it’s powerful and at any given moment I can be susceptible but I just try to invest my time into nurturing my recovery every day.
Start with hour one… hour two… day one… day two.
Sobriety is worth it. And you’re worth it.
Thank you
Welcome. We are glad to have you. Read around. There is hope and you have made a great decision to get sober. One Day At A Time sounds cliche but it really is a great rule to live by. Some simple advice for the first week. Drink lots of water or get some electrolytes, sleep when you can, eat well and DO NOT make deals with yourself about drinking. Chocolate are some sweets will help too. Someone is awake here most of the time so come for some support. I am 70 some days sober and still live by these guidelines. I feel lonely a lot too so reach out if you want. Kristen
Thank you.
I realice my overthinking and fears about my Job and money issues lead me to my drinking.
I’m really scared.
But today, I’ll be ok.
Thank you
Thank you. You are lovely
Hi @Vic11.11 welcome to Talking Sober
Sorry to hear you’re struggling. It sucks to be on that endless loop of addiction
There’s lots of good advice above. I’ve found online meetings helpful. There’s a list of recovery groups here (Resources for our recovery), many of them have online meetings, and there’s also online meetings at In the Rooms: Online Recovery Community, Live Addiction Meetings &12 Step Meetings Online
You can do it if you keep learning from people who have more experience than you. It works; it is possible to find freedom and keep it.
Oh @Matt thank you
