Welcome! This app has tons of people who check in daily and tons of people with long term sobriety. That isn’t a coincidence.
Stay connected, stay honest and stay sober.
Put time into your sobriety every day and watch yourself heal. Ask for help when you need it and then give help when you can.
Glad to have you. 🩷
Glad you’re here. I have 3 kids of my own. Day one, first step, take it moment to moment if you need to. Have a craving check in! People will be here for you. So much support and knowledge from people on here. Find things to distract yourself.
Welcome to Talking Sober, we are here for each other.
One of the primary tools we all use is to practice gratitude - keeping that positive outlook going, making paper or computer lists of things we value, changing our thinking to expect that everything is gonna be alright.
Here’s your starter gratitude item for today - You are not starting your day one like I was, coming to in a jail cell and facing a judge, with little hope of making bail.
You can do anything for 15 seconds, and that includes riding out cravings. Blessings on your house
as you begin your journey.
Welcome. Great start. Like people have said previous, I too had tried many times to quit. When I joined here I was ready and this place and the people here gave me hope I could. I checked in everyday for the best part of a year.
If you read around the posts you’ll get a feel for the app.
How are you doing today @Vic11.11 ?
Hi Vic. We all had our first day. I still remember mine and how hard it was. Then came day 2 and here i am almost 10 months sober.

Hi Manu, welcome here! ![]()
Take your time to settle in, this forum can be overwhelming in the beginning ![]()
So many threads and different people. But soon you will notice the power of it, maybe you already have.
For me one of the important threads is the Daily check in thread:
Checking in daily to maintain focus #75 - #767 by StacyAnn?
I was here every day for many years.
It helped me to stay focussed and we all pushed eachother forward.
Feel free to join, you will be welcomed!
Hi guys,
I’m Taya. I’m a female from California 34, and I’m a 15 year addict, starting with alcohol, ended with opiates. I’ve done everything except hallucinogens - well, I have done them, acid and shrooms, but I’ve never hallucinated. ((Have never known why, but anyway))
This is my first Post. I got alcoholic pancreatitis and almost died in September 2024.
Today I have 7 months 8 days off alcohol completely.
But now I have to beat my biggest crutch, demon, & best friend… Opiates.
Just hoping to have people to talk to.
I live in an isolated area so the first 7 months have been without any type of therapy or support group.
I started AI therapy out of desperation two days ago.
I was surprised to find myself talking to it for 170 minutes. ![]()
So that’s my story
Hope you guys like me.

Hi, Taya. You are in the right place. This is a truly supportive community, and there’s always someone to talk with on here. You can do it, and you aren’t alone.
Are you still here?
If you didn’t manage to stay on the horse, dust yourself down and get back up.
Fight.
It seems impossible, and then it doesn’t.
Fight.
Drink water whenever a craving comes up.
Fight.

Fight.
Why not go to a detox?
Thank you ![]()
Thank you so much
Can’t afford to.
Congrats
on your sobriety from alcohol. I don’t have experience in opioids. But like getting sober from alcohol one day at a time. If you are in the US there is lots of free help to access. Read around here, lots help too. Wish you the best, you can do this. And get help from a health professional if you need too
Have you even called to check and see if they charge? Most emergency detox(s) I’ve been to are state funded and thus free. Don’t just assume. Treatment usually is what you need isurance for. I’m talking about 5 day detox(s). There you can get a plan together hopefully with someone who can figure out how to get you into treatment without insurance.
