Derailment void / Off topic 2021 to present

I was afraid it might go down like this. How about you stick around and let the ruffled feathers smooth themselves. This is a hot topic, and there is interpretation involved. Can all the parties agree to disagree, let things stand as they are, and move along?

Nah donā€™t leave because they flagged a pic. This place is for everyone to stay on the right track with their recovery. You have every right to be here. Whatā€™s your addiction if you donā€™t mind me asking? Shit message me if you want.

This isnā€™t that important Mikeā€¦ it doesnā€™t really matter if your pic was flagged at the end of the day. I wouldnā€™t leave over that, maybe mute the thread and users that pissed you off.

Damn bro quit being so sensitive. Not a big deal. Like with your relapse, just let it go, you hold on to shit way to long.

You are an addict who consciously risked to trigger others addiction just because you donā€™t agree with a rule or the application of a rule. These rules make this place safe for all of us. You have the privilege of having a safe space because others follow these rules regarding your addiction, while you donā€™t return this favor to others. If you donā€™t agree with something you can always start an open discussion or you can accept it without understanding it.

So wear a shirt that shows your shoulders and post it!.

Shirtless is a very easily defined standard. Which is probably the reason why it was chosen as the standard.

LOVE YOU MIKE :two_hearts: fantastic.problemo solvedā€‹:wink::joy::joy::joy:

RULES STATE NO TOPLESS PICTURES. WHY THE F#CK IS THAT SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND???

ā€œBut girls show cleavageā€
Are we still in primary school?? Own up what youā€™re doing when youā€™re breaking rules.

I think its his inner addict/alcoholic making reasons to seperate him from his only connection to recovery.

Well triggering other addicts like that Iā€™d say thatā€™s just selfish and evil intent.

Iā€™ve muted so many threads bc of such ppl Iā€™m gonna soon be left only with foodies unite and pet pics, lol

Eric, you will keep your shirt on for me, wouldnā€™t you? @Dazercat

Addiction doesnt care about feelings.

I see patterns in people. Hes been around for a while. He knows the rules. He has created a reason to seperate himself from here again. Hes been doing it for a while nowā€¦

No disrespect to you Olivia. I try and be considerate of everyones feelings. I have a better understanding of other addictions. I found this place because of my alcohol and drug addiction. I was offensive when I got here. My addictions were subconsciously trying to sabatoge my connection to recovery.

I wasnt willing to do AA or NA. I ruffled feathers. I started getting flags. Then I realized that I can keep being a dick and get banned from something that has been helping me not drink or I can tone it down.

I chose to tone it down. Its been a process. the more I recover the more I tone it down because I become more aware of others and want to respect others.

I sometimes feel like I walk on eggshells here.

Im sorry that there are so many triggers for you.

I live across the street from a bar, in a RV park full of meth, in a town full of drunks. I work with an active drug addict and a drinker.

I am responsible for my recovery. I tread carefully. Triggers are a part of recovery. There is no escape.

I look beyond my triggers every day.

Thank you Jason for your consideration here, honestly.

I just think that the issue is more that this is a recovery forum, (that also welcomes sex addicts) where hopefully triggers would be down to minimum, hence thereā€™s moderators and moderating.

Iā€™m a recovering sex and love addict, and yes, if I go to the beach in the summer Iā€™m gonna see a lot of skin. But hopefully this can be a safe place.

And thank you for making it one, Jason!

Go read the thread ā€œwhy no topless pics matterā€

Itā€™s a tough one because I often look at females pictures on here and think :open_mouth:  because of their low cut tops, tight fitting clothes etcā€¦

Maybe thatā€™s because Iā€™m male, but if I was a sex addict Iā€™d definitely be triggeredā€¦

But yes if itā€™s the blanket ban of no tops I suppose that needs to be respected even if nipples arenā€™t showing

I get that. Triggers are present when I leave my house every day too. Real life is one thing. Sobriety forum is something else. Do you see people getting offended here if they post themselves holding a beer can and get flagged? I donā€™t.

I was walking on egg shells when I joined. Thatā€™s just my personality. Trying to be understanding, not offending, a peacemaker. Realised I have to take a stand to protect myself. Iā€™m done trying to explain and to understand. A half naked pic here is a hostile threat to my recovery and I shall treat such user accordingly.

It has never been about some fucking nipples. Itā€™s about HAVING NO SHIRT ON!

Most people want to follow rules. There a steady flow of new people who will trigger somebody at some point. We have look beyond itā€¦

Id rather not have to look at shirtless people in here too. :grinning:

Youā€™re correct. Some new people donā€™t necessarily even read the rules. But thatā€™s why there are the moderators, and moderating,
and flags etc.

And I hear you, lol
