I will say, as a relatively long term member, I appreciate when we can police each other a bit. Calling out things that feel icky so that we start a conversation can really be helpful for the community to make some choices together on how we behave together. Itās messy sometimes, but I do believe it can be valuable. Not everyone agrees with this though.
You know whatās interestingā¦ there are some members here whoāve never shared a selfie (for example, me) andā¦ hmmm I wonder if that person got made up, a little makeup, a little attention, getting cuteā¦
Then post a selfie, like, a smokin hot one.
I wonder how many comments I could get? (To be clear, I am a cis hetero male.)
I did something like that when I was in university. It was an interesting experience. Only time in my life Iāve gotten the full, up and down, look, from men passing me by on the street. (Edit to add: it was an experience I never forgot. Opened my eyes and helped me understand.)
I wonder if I could create a new account and do that, without anyone knowing it was me?
Naw they know when people be out here creating second accounts. Just ask some of the old school mods about she who shall not be named or he who shall not be named
You know what though - it wouldnāt really make a difference. Like, the problem is the toxic masculinity which objectifies people and uses them to gratify the male gaze.
Iām not sure if that making a fake account thing Iām talking about here would tackle that at all.
As a performer, it is truly important to know your audience,
On the forum I can get a little close to the borders sometimes coloring outside the lines, But like Mr. Monkey said, you have to know your audience. Outside of here I can be much more colorful and theatrical, and sometimes I got to eat a piece of that humble pie cause well. I went too far, it is what it is,
But it would be like going to an AA meeting saying I just opened a new micro brewery and Iām offering free first drinks to AA members. A good way to get myself in a world of shit very fast
In all honestly in the After Action Report we can always say well we could have done this or that better, but at that point itās too late, just need to suck it up and drive on with the airborne mission.
Could not agree more and I also read the thread. Language fucking matters. Itās when you bite back, blame everyone else as too sensitive and hide behind the ānational humor cardā because you canāt be bothered to learn consideration yourself, thatās when you show where your allegiance actually lies.
Noone can āmake me feelā anything. Weāre all responsible for our own emotions. All of us.
