But what is pie? What is the universal pie? Just because you think it’s pie doesn’t mean other people think it’s pie. There’s other paths to dessert and I feel like you are just saying THIS IS THE WAY IT HAS TO BE DESSERT and you aren’t acknowledging other desserts

This is a bit myopic, IMHO. Pie can be filled with other ingredients making it an entree: chicken and beef pot pie. Shepherd’s Pie. Jamaican Jerk Pie.
Cake? Just crab cake, which is a fine meal, but cake is nowhere near as versatile as pie.

Is dump cake an entree? I’ve only had apple cinnamon dump cake, which was fantastic, but lacked meat or vegetables.
