Foodies Unite #2

Another Nigel Slater recipe. Lentils and squash soup/stew. Great vegetarian dish. It tastes great although it might not look that special.

Yes! I remember having a discussion about eating it a few weeks ago. Itā€™s delicious  (not the lingonberry, I donā€™t eat that)

Thought Iā€™d try the Zucchini Frittata recipe I was sharing here.

Wifey says sour cream is actually optional if you use ranch dressing instead. Iā€™ll stick with the sour cream.

My favorite way to roast chicken! And you get to say ā€œspatchcock!ā€ :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

@M-be-free49 ā€˜Tis the season of delicious foods that ā€œtaste better than they look!ā€ I love it. Keep posting! Iā€™ll post my share, too :upside_down_face:

My favourite way too! Iā€™ve only done it this way past year or two. Iā€™ve been missing out! And it is fun to say

Spatchcocked birds look like they are really busting to go to the bathroom.

Ah, ok! I thought you werenā€™t gonna tell me what it was - and I didnā€™t want to set myself up for disappointment!

Pleeeeeeeease tell me? Pretty please? With sugar on top?

Funny you should ask :joy:
Drum roll please. :drum: :drum: :drum:
Grape Jelly
He would put a little coat of grape jelly on the inside of the cabbage leaf when he rolled them up. It gave it a unique sweet flavor to go with the tomato sauce.

With the pandemic and winter coming I think I will be putting Galumpkes on my list to make. I canā€™t believe how much cooking iā€™m doing. Just today even.

Comfort food. Baked potato with homemade chili (I had some in the freezer) and toppings. Mmmm.

Havenā€™t made homemade sauce with meatballs and lasagna in so longā€¦ itā€™s been long over due. Cooking was a trigger for me. Iā€™d almost always be half in the bag on a Sunday like today.
Hubby requested half the lasagna have linguica (Portuguese sausage) it was delish :yum: :spaghetti:

Nothing better than homemade sauce! It takes me a day to make my sauce. And it takes another day to clean up the mess haha!

Got my pot roast on today.
I want this every night. I think the dogs do too. They knew the house smelled great all afternoon.

And I hear ya Courtney. @Dragonflygirl82
Cooking always started by opening a bottle of red for me. Then I thought I could create. So much easier this way right?

And your dinner looks marvelous :yum: :yum:

No kidding! Thanks for sharing the family secrets! That made me check my Momā€™s recipe - calls for a bit of lemon juice and some brown sugar in the tomato sauce. With the caraway seed it is tangy-sweet and soo yum!

I just might try your grape jelly on a few, baked in a separate dish, and do a galumpkes taste testā€¦ (remember the coke and pepsi commercials of yore? :joy:) Better yet, why donā€™t we just make our separate recipes and do a swapā€¦ like neighbours

LOL! Iā€™m sure your lasagnas looked better than one of my roast chicken dinners - (pre-AF) - had to name that poor bird ā€œroad killā€ he was so overdone! yes, face palmā€¦ :joy:

@M-be-free49 That soup looks great! Is that bread next to it or some kind of crouton?

@Olivia Iā€™ve never even heard of lingonberry  RIP Rudolph.

@Hailstrom Everything on that plate looks amazing. Thatā€™s a whole bunch of everything I love eating. I was a keto fanatic for years (so much so that I maintained a keto diet after having jaw surgery and having to eat out of a syringe for a month) and have only more recently come off it due to a few health problems, but I still lean toward it and am pushing to return to the keto way. Actually Iā€™m considering doing carnivore for a month then slowly introducing foods back in to see what is causing my GI to freak out in the way that it has been recently.

@Dragonflygirl82 Wow! Those look sinfully delicious!

@Mno That looks good. Iā€™ve never had a lentil soup/stew. Are you vegetarian?

@Dazercat Iā€™m pretty sure the sour cream is not optional   Maybe open a packet of the powdered ranch mix and lightly sprinkle it on the sour cream?

@Salty Iā€™ve never heard of ā€˜Spatchcockā€™ :joy: I learn something new here every day.

@RosaCanDo Do you put beans or meat in your chili, or both? Itā€™s always interesting to me to see how people like to do their chili.
