Delicious, and now Iā€™m craving a chilli dog. Guess thatā€™s Wednesday dinner here

My chili preference is lots of beans, pinto, black and kidney beans, with some nice big chunks of meat, usually ground beef or pork and frequently hot Italian sausage. I have made it vegetarian before, also, but the hubby loves his meaty chili.

This is sooo good you guys! And Vegan!
You get a can of coconut milk and add chai seeds and put it in the fridge overnight. and it turns into like a pudding. Gotta add the raspberries, I am in love.

That sounds really hearty! Iā€™m with you and your hubby. Meaty chili is awesome. :grinning:

Iā€™m seriously impressed!! What did you do, just drink olive oil from a syringe?

Iā€™ve been eating this way for close to 3 years now. I started doing it simply to lose weight but I got so many other benefits from it that it stuck. Iā€™m more relaxed about it now, I donā€™t worry about macros anymore, Iā€™ve learnt what works for me and how to tell when Iā€™m getting it wrong. I have cheat meals now, I treat myself now and then, but Iā€™d say 95% or what I eat is keto.

Iā€™m interested in carnivore. Iā€™d like to hear how you get on with it if you try. Iā€™ve seen a few Mikhaila Peterson videos about it. From a health point of view itā€™s really interesting, but I think iā€™d end up getting zero enjoyment out of food if I just ate meat.

Iā€™m grinning like a fool at your question right now  So what I did is I prepped a huge amount of bone broth before the surgery and froze it in small containers so I could take it out as needed. I ordered a liquid multivitamin. Got a big jug of MCT oil. A couple big containers of Quest protein powder (thereā€™s a lower carb amount in that one and it tastes good) and a ton of heavy cream. I would have a hefty liquid shake with the protein powder, mct oil, and cream for one meal and then I would have the bone broth mixed with some very thin puree soup (it had to be completely liquid or it wouldnā€™t get through my teeth, so no pieces or even herbs) for a couple other meals. I managed an 80/15/5 macro content (fat/pro/carb) and approximately 2k cal/day, give or take. Honestly most days I had about 2200 calories because the bone broth was also very fatty. It was intense. Even when I was in the hospital and was kind of wonked out on the drugs they gave me, I refused to drink the juice they brought me and insisted on broth (which Iā€™d put on the form before I was admitted but they apparently ignored it).

Yeah that makes complete sense what youā€™re saying and I think thatā€™s the best way to do itā€“to be more relaxed after a few years. I used to check my blood ketones every day and my blood sugar and all that, but by the end I knew I could have upwards of 50 carbs and still stay in ketosis. Man there are so many amazing benefits to being in keto. I miss being on it, to be completely honest.

My father in law is heavy into the carnivore lifestyle and heā€™s become an annoying zealot  Iā€™ve also seen Mikhaila Petersonā€™s videos and I love what itā€™s done for her health. I hesitate for some of the same reasons as you, but also I know itā€™s hard to say just how long a person feels like crap on carnivore before they get the benefits. Still I may cut down to it or at the very least something similar. Iā€™ll let you know if I do it. Right now Iā€™m slowly cutting stuff out because I have to figure out what has my GI tract suddenly up in a hissy fit. Iā€™m so not about this getting older life.

Thanks for this. My friend recommended it also so I guess I should try it! She drinks it every night before bed. Iā€™m going to try wearing the fake fitbit tonight, havenā€™t since I posted about it last, but since Iā€™ve been more careful about screen time before bed Iā€™ve slept a lot better! Thank goodness the arthritis doesnā€™t keep me or wake me up!

Thatā€™s the most dystopian sounding diet I have ever heard of :joy::joy: MCT oil mixed with bone broth and liquid vitamins in a syringe, my god!! It sounds like something from Brave New World. Bravo :clap:

Sorry you had to do that tho because it sounds truly dreadful. I did all sorts of weird things to get my macros exact early on. I remember being on flight and when they served the meal I asked for loads of packets of butter and just ate them instead :upside_down_face: Gross. It completely changed my understanding of food and nutrition. Much like you, as long as I stay below 50g carbs and exercise it seems to work just fine. If my fat is too low I eat an avocado. Simple stuff that works.

I had years of stomach and digestive problems and they pretty much all went away within a month of keto. It was amazing, I couldnā€™t believe it. These days that is the main reason I do it tbh.

 it was so dystopian!! I had another few months where I had to learn how to chew again and there was only so much I could eat that was soft enough so I continued having that with a lot of scrambled eggs

Oh man! Your butter story! Itā€™s so true to life though! Iā€™m glad to hear your GI issues have gotten better! It really is such a great eating style.

I went through this period where eating keto caused me major problems but itā€™s morphed into something else. All in the last year. Itā€™s been nuts but I think keto is on the horizon for me once again then there will be a lot of keto friendly food pics from me :slightly_smiling_face:
