Old Amsterdam, I like that cheese. I am more of a Swiss and French Cheese type

TBH I donā€™t like Old Amsterdam. Mass produced factory cheese and not genuinely old. I should let you have a taste of this 2 year old on the bottom left. Now thereā€™s a genuine old Dutch farm cheese for you. Enjoy the ox cheek, looks great!

We do have it. Klappgrƶt (translated to Clapping porridge) because of the sound it makes when you blend it together. I donā€™t eat it, lingonberry ainā€™t a favorite.

Saturday cooking

Spicy Thai Chicken (L)
Beef/Asparagus/Red Pepper stir fry ( R)

Love my new carbon steel wok. Making the switch away from non-stick, finally. Now that I have a few weeks with it and have learned to care for/cook with it properly, Iā€™ll be getting another carbon steel pan to replace the old-as-dirt one on the left.

Oooo carbon steel  Oh, and the food looks great, too!

Iā€™m getting away from non-stick too. I have for a bit. Hubby uses it and cranks the heat :confounded:
Love my cast iron but Iā€™ll have to check out some carbon steel!!

I had a cast iron pan before, and thought it was junk because it rusted to hell in like a month.

Nope, I just didnā€™t realize/didnā€™t look up that it requires proper care (donā€™t put it in the dishwasher, you have to season it, etc!) I only found thst out recently as carbon steel is treated the same way. Non-stick is all I had known in my life.

So, I finally finished and I really like it.
Now I am more than full.

Iā€™m not a fan of lingonberry either, but I like it in this form with too much sugar! :smirk:

Never knew how itā€™s called in Swedish! Now I understand one the Finnish names thatā€™s different to all others

oh my godā€¦ keep the Michelin-Star restaurants and leave me thisā€¦ :relaxed:

This is cheese normally delivered to Dutch Michelin star restaurants for their cheese plateaus. Since they are all closed this way they still get to sell some of it. :yum: :sunglasses:

Got this as a birthday present from my bestie. Dutch cuisine is not well known at all. And in general thought of as rather poor. But thereā€™s some really good stuff in there. Excellent gift!

Celebratory steak dinner. Grass-fed beef from a local farm, cilantro-serrano-lime vinaigrette slaw, and smoky three bean bake. Itā€™s a great day for America, and for my taste-buds!
