Foodies Unite #3 (trigger warning food) Let's TACO 'BOUT FOOD

Oh man, I miss molcajete meals! Nothing like that here, but I do think I need to give the Mexican restaurant here a second chance…

Silver Pine for lunch.
Buffalo wings.
I love wings when they use real chicken :rooster:

Strawberry Gorgonzola salad.

Greens and spinach, strawberries, dried cranberries, candied pecans, Gorgonzola, balsamic vinaigrette.

Balsamic Vinaigrette just made the list with
arugula  :grimacing: it’s overrated and too strong.

That’s why you don’t drown the salad! I love some balsamic lol

How is Minnie?

Ya I kept it on the side and kind of dipped it.
It’s still overrated though.

Still waiting.
She’ll probably have the night off from kitchen duty though

Not gonna post pics. Today is one of those days where I just can’t. Eric is cooking a frozen pizza. So grateful for him right now.

Needs syrup. Lots of syrup :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

The deal with the syrup: I used to work at a killer café in California. (It was the one where I served Patrick Swayze and his family often. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:)

Every Saturday and Sunday, we had a 2X2X2 - 2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon or sausage and 2 pancakes for $2.99. We were always packed and I was always covered in syrup - touching it, wiping it from tables, the floor, the chairs. Sticky and gross.

And THEN at the end of the shift, we’d have to collect all the little syrups and fill it from the big-ass vat of syrup in the back room and run hot water of the bottles to get the sticky off. Steaming room of maple syrup stench.

All that to say, I have my reasons. I made a ton of money there as a happy Cali teen.

Tell me about sister. I worked at the Mag.
Magnolia Cafe in Austin.
Buttermilk Pancakes
Whole Wheat Pancakes.
Corn Meal Pancakes.
Gingerbread Pancakes, my personal fave with bananas. And lots of syrup.
4 to 6 fruit choices on all combinations.
French toast.
Open 24 hours. Let me tell you about wearing pancake syrup home and getting it in your car and all over ya. And down your leg. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes::stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes::stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
I think we’d make a bad ass team on the floor.
Every gal I ever hired from the Midwest worked her ass off. I bet that’s you!

We kept our pancake syrup sitting in an inch of water on a big tray. Because ants can’t swim
Seriously, every once and awhile a custome would get the :ant: pancakes :scream:. What are ya gonna do?

Our place had Gibby Haynes from the Butthole Surfers. Good band from San Antonio. No Patrick Swayze.

I’m with you. I heated up some meat and am putting it in a tortilla and using queso for dip :woman_shrugging:t2:

Let’s be clear: I live in the Midwest. I am not from the Midwest.

And still, I work my ass off.

I feel like y’all in bed by the time I post my dinner

Spicy Coconut Curry Pork Noodle Soup
Bok Choy, Napa Cabbage and Lime.

Minnie is back home from her surgery. She wanted to check in. I gave her night off from any kitchen duties.

I did put together a few special doggie meatballs for her. She’s needs a good nights rest and will hopefully be back to work with me in the kitchen tomorrow.

Hi, Minnie! Rest up and feel better!

Curry is an absolute favorite in this house. I haven’t perfected it yet. Maybe I just haven’t found the right base combo. I prefer Japanese or Indian curry. The kiddo is yellow Thai curry ALL the way.

That looks delicious. Take out? Or made at home?

It’s a Hello Fresh recipe I made at home. I cannot just whip up a curry for some reason. I wish I could.

This curry is really good. Chock-full of MSG - Tastes like Misawa to me.

Lunch at Texas Road House

Steak House Filet Salad
Salad greens drizzled with Italian dressing, topped with tender filet strips, Bleu Cheese crumbles, bacon bits, red onions, tomatoes and croutons, and served with a side of creamy Bleu Cheese.

I’ve never had this before. It was great! I cannot complain about a thing. The filet was even cooked perfectly rare.
