This morning I oven roasted some pork for 6 hours should of only taken 3 but…. I’m still figuring out this cooking thing.

I am a huge broccoli lover.

Lately when I know my scales are going up a few kgs and I’m feeling snacky, I boil up a big bowl of broccoli and eat it slowly with chop sticks dipping it in terriyaki sauce. It’s really good. And it filing. And minimal calories.

Now I want to challenge my self and attempt to actually cook, not just boil :relaxed:

I want to make it into tempura.

I haven’t done any googling yet as to how to make good tempura batter and then make it successfully.

But if anyone knows how to and wants to give me any hints or tips, I’d be quiet grateful :kissing_heart:

I’m not a cook, never have been, once I make something that works, I stick to it LOL.

I need to start uping my non existent cooking skills.

Get a couple of dishes under my belt that are perfect.

I will start with vegetable tempura :innocent:

The Kikkoman tempura batter mix is actually really good. If you try from scratch and it doesn’t work out, you can give that a try. It has five star reviews. I lived in Japan for four years and ate more than my fair share of tempura and I think it’s great.

You know what one of my favourite things to eat as a kid was?

Deep fried battered pineapple rings from the local fish and chip shop :yum:

Reminded me of this pizza! My favorite ever… heavy on the anchovies and jalapenos, tomatoes and cheese… …My friend w me said A-Ok and it was a (delicious) go! Happy Memories, Lake Isabella, California.

In my country this is a very common vegetable. Especially in winter you see them a lot. And really cheap!
One of my favorite vegetables because of its aromatic taste and huge versatility :wink:

I you want to make it in tempura its quite easy.
Buy one of those tempura batter mix like @EarnIt posted.
For extra crispy tempura use ice cold sparkling water.
If the mixer has small lumps, that’s fine they add extra crispness
Keep the batter in the fridge before you ready to us it.
Don’t boil the broccoli! For the best tempura veggies you use uncooked veggies!
Make small portions of the broccoli, half the seize or even smaller as you have them on the picture.
Deep fry them in small portions so they don’t sick till the are crispy!
Season with salt en pepper :yum:
