Well, I’m more than pleased with how this turned out! Delicious. Now begins a new chapter in my cooking explorations!
We are never without curry paste and curry powder. I have Indian curry, Thai curry in yellow, green and red. I buy coconut milk by the case. It looks like it turned out fabulous! Do you have an Asian market? Or did you buy at regular grocery?
We do have an Asian market that I’ve never visited and must go check it out ASAP! I bought these supplies at the regular grocery. The Thai curry paste was super mild and I ended up adding a ton of sambal oelek chili paste. Really glad I used a whole lot of ginger and garlic. I read a bunch of recipes and then just winged it. I can’t wait to see what there is to see. I would love to try Indian curry next.
That looks wonderful Rosa; it looks wonderfully fragrant!
That a girl!
If your Asian Market covers Indian spices, get it there (or an Indian market if you have one) - not regular grocery. The spices are so very different.
Confirmed: 10 rows of bleached and 3 rows of unbleached. 76% of shelf space is bleached flour.
Wow! Thanks for reporting back. Guess I haven’t been paying attention since I switched to King Arthur flours. Bougie, I know…
Will do! We also just discovered there is a bulk spices and organic foods/grains/beans etc. boutique downtown that I need to check out!
Good flour is worth the extra money. Sugar, however, I’ve never noticed the difference between low price sugar and premium sugar.
Same on the sugar front. Even the generic brown sugar seems fine to me.
That looks very tasty!
My kids got me a waffle maker for my birthday! Let’s hear it for team waffles!
Clever children.
Getting dad something they want, along with ensuring he’ll use it to also make them waffles, which they want but can’t be bothered making.
Absolutely masterful plan.
Check out this shniznit!
No matter how many times I look, it’s still empty…
Better fill that bad-boy up then!
I can totally recommend cheese and chive waffles.
Does your batter recipe use whipped egg whites folded through the mix to make them totally delicious?
It should.
If not, you know what to do…

Even though I already had a salad today I could not pass up the smoked trout.
Salad of smoked trout carpinteria avocado and ruby red grapefruit segments. The combination worked so well together.
The best part was the French churned salted butter @Its_me_Stella with the bread.

@Alisa I needed you on FaceTime for this cheese plate. I didn’t know how to act. I never had one like this before. Kelly wanted dessert so I got cheese.
Check out the cute walnut cracker
I thought it was a Hobbit House
I didn’t know which cheese was which but it was all great. And those black crackers ?
What a delightful meal the whole way through! In France, the French eat their meal, following it with a green salad and then an assortment of cheese like you had - often five types… and some fruit. Really no sweets except perhaps a small square of chocolate, more so for the children; nice desserts reserved for special occasions… It is a leisurely way to finish the meal and enjoy the nuances of each cheese and the accoutrements… Yes, Bon appetit!
Thanks for thinking of me and thanks for the menu… I love regional French sheep cheese… and would want the German blue too and of course would want all!
Edit: @Dazercat is that a walnut inside a nut cracker or something? On the tray with the crackers?
Second edit! I see you described it in your posts!
@Olivia beautiful!! Do you call it a waffle or does it have another name? What a beautiful “iron” it is! Have a nice day, friend xoxo
My food is One egg and about 5 egg whites… with tomato, mango, onion, tarragon vinegar, pepper, French sea salt, and slightly cooked spinach! Tres bon!
Everybody have a good day… and nice meals…
