Foodies Unite #4 (trigger warning food) DON'T GO BACON MY HEART!

That looks like a dinner you’d get in a brilliant restaurant, it looks incredible.

Yes, we call it a waffle, or “vohveli”, translated. Strawberries from last summer, hastily thawed in my microwave. You have a beautiful plate too. Have a nice day!

You’re sweet - I think you would have liked it :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I have a lot of notes for next time but it was a good start!

My overnight oats people- may I have some recipes of what you put in there? I tried some apples last week and wasn’t a huge fan so I’m still doing just berries but I would like to try a different flavor profile

How much yogurt?

Plain fat-free Greek yogi, unsweetened vanilla cashew milk, Saigon cinnamon, walnuts (or pecans, since I know you’ve got 'em), chia seed, honey, oats, sea salt

Done it every morning for a few years now, still not tired of it.

Just started adding salt in the last year, really brightens it up and brings out the sweetness

I just got a bunch of chia seeds from thrive market and saved this and wanted to share with you

Edit: I love adding hemp hearts to the top for extra protein, fiber, and fat ( it helps fill me up a bit longer)

I just use to mix my favorite Yoplait yogurts in a jar with the oats over night like
Boston Cream Pie
Banana Cream Pie
Strawberry Banana.
Your probably looking for something fruity and healthier but those options tasted great and they were so easy to mix.

The magical powers of salt! It’s truly amazing when you learn what it can do.

I’ve never had a hemp heart
Thank you for the link!!! Super helpful. Guess I’ll be swinging to the store today.

@TMAC thanks!! I didn’t think of my pecans :joy: I do have a big bowl to use of those! I haven’t tried yogurt in there either.

I discovered them during my vegan phase of my life. I still use them a lot

I’d follow the ratios in the recipes everyone shared. I just eyeball it.

I’ve been working on my pecan cracking technique and was quite proud with all the whole ones I’m getting today only to remember I’ll be crushing them up… :woman_shrugging:t2: I’m still getting better

Dang it :grimacing: Found a really good BBQ joint but we’re leaving in 2 weeks :grimacing:

The Maple Block.
In Culver City.

Old school chopped brisket sandwich.
Ranch beans and potato salad

You can tell a lot about a BBQ joint by how good their chopped brisket sandwich is. And it was great.
And great sides!!!

Finally convinced my partner Eric that we can eat salads in the Wintertime. He says they’re so “cold!” We’ll be cranking the space heater and hiding in the basement for dinner, and I made sure to pack extra protein (Eric-style) in these salads. I swear there is romaine under all that!
