Foodies Unite #4 (trigger warning food) DON'T GO BACON MY HEART!

Really nice. I love a good shrimp and grits. Growing up in the northeast I had never heard of such a thing. One good one and I was hooked.
Very nice. :yum:

My famous ‘Popcorn Cake’! Loved by children and also the young at !

Basically just triple butter microwave popcorn and a caremelly sticky sauce made of butter/honey/caster sugar/vanilla essence all mixed together and compressed into a dome shaped bowl.Topped off with silver Cashous balls!

P.S Tried peanut butter in my oats for the 1st time in 53 years! I think l will get to really like it in time. I also put some maple syrup on top. Next time l will mix PB with some Nutella choc spread!

Rosa,l just wanted to say that l  your cooking style-it’s very rustic, wholesome and always colourful!
I feel that you are very mindful of what goes into your mouth. Your meals look so nutritious and well rounded.
You are really blossoming in the kitchen as you gain confidence trying new things!
I admire you for growing a lot of your own produce.

Gosh! That is one of the nicest compliments I’ve ever received! Thank you! I love being a decent home cook and I love feeding people. My husband says that’s how I “sealed the deal” when we were dating and I cooked him a massive traditional Mexican meal for his birthday. Edit to say I also looooove growing food and enjoying the fruits of my labor well into the snowy winter.

I got creative with using up leftover roasted potatoes and rotisserie chicken. I happened to have some homemade enchilada sauce in the freezer. I really dig the potato in the enchiladas (was that a pun? Hm…) For the side, I toasted the remaining sweet corn from my earlier cooking project and added it to some black beans, and serranos and tomatoes from the freezer. Topped with cotija cheese. Super tasty!

Fridge clean out chilli for hubby using ground pork from a local organic/regenerative farm. I don’t use ground pork much, but got several packs from a box order I’d made from them so wanted to use it up. Still meat-free trial for me so I had something different

I googled the menu just for you and it didn’t say. It wasn’t very good cold :joy: As much as I go out to eat these days I’m bound to get some lousy food once and awhile. Tartar was good and the fries with malt vinegar were amazing. The fries around here at most places are the best. It’s really hard not to order them all the time.

Air fried salmon and edamame.

Edit to add my most favorite dessert at the moment. Just some pecans with honey but satisfying to the sweet tooth

Probably one of my favourite meals growing up.

I’ve forgotten about it recently. It’s so good when it is from a good restaurant :yum:

Also veal with just lemon and lightly battered… so good !! :+1:

Used to love a good veal schnitzel with a squeeze of lemon, chips and salad, especially in summer. But then my local butcher told me that calves are only a few days old when they go you know where!:weary:

It put me off that, and veal scallopini for life!
I’m an idiot coz l’ll still eat suckling pig or lamb.

Don’t know whether it’s coz l spent the first 5 years of my life on a small dairy farm where we had names for all our cows and frequently bottle fed calves.
