@Scorpn they were a dollar a piece at the outlet mall in the 90’s. Have used them since… ironically one was broken not all that long ago by a friend who came over, filled it w wine, went into a wine hyper overdrive and accidentally flung it out of her hand. I think I have one more spare that I can set out to make 4 again. I googled and see I can get another for a spare too. The shipping is almost the price of the glass. They were just mainly special to me. I am not upset about it. More about potential missing glass somewhere.
Big shout out and Thanks to a friend who came by and made dinner she killed it! Chicharron with salsa, rice and beans with homemade tortillas.
Peace and have a Good Day to All!
My version of labneh. I see no need to strain the yogurt, dripping it in a bag over the kitchen sink. Yes, you can use a sieve and a bowl w cheesecloth.
I get 0% fat Greek yogurt and add what I want to it.
This has olive oil, not mixed in but you can mix it in.
Fresh thyme
French coarse salt
I like to add grated fresh garlic, sometimes lemon, sometimes parsley or whatever herb I would like to add. Pepper if I want. Any or all of it. Make it anyway you would like.
Works great, as is, with a spoon, or for a dip. I am thinking of putting dollops on the black eyes peas on New Years Day!
I eat olive oil and salt in my yogurt a lot… it is healthy…
Many countries have similar “strained yogurts”.
The Dutch have hangop ( literally ‘hang up’ to strain) which is thick and either plain or wonderfully mildly sweetened.
Our resident Dutch cook gets to eat it a lot, fresh from the local farm.
Brunch - egg scramble with leftover goodies from our pickins spread from last night. Chopped salamis, red bell pepper, stuffed olives (garlic and jalapeño), mushrooms, pepper jack and cheddar cheese, I’m sure I’m forgetting something. Decadent!
Another meal I can’t take credit for homemade lasagna and bread I got some cool friends who are happy to see me getting back on track with my sobriety. I’m blessed! Peace to All!
Looking at possibly getting new dishes. We have white kinda square now (with rounded edges though) but they’re chipping a lot. Thoughts on you’re favourite of these? They come on sale often at Canadian Tire (hardware store ) so that’s why I picked these lol.
I also have a set of the black & white floral round I bought on sale for our trailer so I could buy a second set which would be cheaper. or just get different. I’m indecisive
We have square and round in our house and I always reach for the round. Square feels like a showpiece to me. Just my opinion, of course.
Hubby brought the square plates into our marriage and usually goes round too.
