Foodies Unite #6 (trigger warning food) ANOTHER ONE BITES THE CRUST!

So much for starting the year off healthy…my fella had a craving for a burger so we went out. I got this amazing Cuban sandwich with the required ham and their smoked brisket and it was so good. big slices of dill pickle and more on the side. Too many fries for me but I did bring a few home with half the sandwich. I promised Eric I’d cook breakfast tomorrow and I think they’ll work like hash browns.

That is a good looking avocado side! I do understand the texture issues and have some of my own with other foods. I think I had a serious benefit growing up visiting family in Mexico and eating some amazing avocados and just had to deal with what we could get here. Still worth it to me! It frightens me when I hear news stories that say avocados will not be as readily available due to climate change…scary!

Made my first homemade stew in the oven.

No seasoning packets. And it turned out to be the best ever. It was a little thick. Probably should have added more water while it was braising. But I wanted to stick with the recipe. It’s a challenge for me to stick with a recipe. I always think I know better.

As you can see by Minnie’s tongue, she approves. And they did get some before it was all gravied up.

Black eyed peas ( for good luck) and some other beans and greens, (fresh kale), for prosperity

Cranberries and blueberries for happiness and good health.

Wishing all of you for 2023, good health, happiness, freedom from your doc.
Looks like lots of good holiday food!
I did not know that curries were so English or were a holiday food…

@Cjp You asked what I used for seasoning. For me personally I enjoy the flavors of the onion, the poblano, the carrot, green pepper … and in this case, tomatoes and zucchini that I tend not to use any of the dried seasonings that I have unless they are ones that I have dried and bagged… I have any store bought jarred seasoning I could want but prefer the natural flavors. Frequently I will use fresh garlic and or fresh ginger. I also have fresh thyme, rosemary, and oregano that I use quite a bit. All my oregano froze over Christmas but got another little starter plant. Usually I can keep at least some from freezing but not this time.
If I were to use a store bought, I would go for cumin/comino, garlic powder, black pepper or Herbes de Provence or Italian Seasoning or just parsley. Paprika sometimes. Also have some little pods of lightly dried basil that I love for salads and also lightly dried cilantro in the same brand. From Wal-Mart or Target. It keeps for a few months and you can freeze it before the use by date.
Anything and everything works, there is not a right or a wrong.
Bon appetit
Have a good 2023 everyone!
PS The person who wrote the review on @Salty avocado clearly doesnt have any taste or they would not have written such a vile review. Personal opinion only.

You posted that about 20:45/8:45pm. What type of wild animal is not under the covers & cooks at that time?

Ok folks… cooked some in air fryer today. Not terrible like the one review, but not fantastic. Dip helps (I happened to have horseradish mayo, and tartar sauce). Just typical processed breading taste. For $1.99 CAD, not a bad deal

Got your time zoning a bit wrong I think.
TS says I posted that 18 hours ago, which would make it around 11:30 am here. Definitely daylight and not quite bedtime.
Thank you for the review and pics though!

EDIT: Details say it was 11.38am

This is loosely based on a recipe I saw for “Thai green curry superfood” soup. I’m not a fan of words like detox, superfood etc but it still intrigued me. Lots of nourishing stuff like kale, peas, broccoli. Of course, the photo I saw was all lovely & puréed, although I don’t have a fancy blender, so my immersion blender makes it a bit more rustic :joy:
A bit spicy for Salty, but I think I can handle it
It fits with my goal of more veg. Just need to add some protein for a meal

Haha no problem. It was kinda fun  Happy to be the tester/Guinea pig. “For science!” :joy:
