I know! We also call them hundreds and thousands here. But I hear you put them on buttered bread and call it fairy bread, which we don’t do here :joy:

Gently toasting some pinhead oatmeal to add to my yoghurt, fruit and honey. It’s like a whisky free version of cranachan which is a lovely traditional Scottish dessert.

That looks very good! I have to remove the seafood and the bacon, but it’s a great meal.:ok_hand:t2:

So I’ve read on here about “meatloaf sandwiches”. I’d never heard of them and I told hubby I should make him one with leftovers. He’d also never heard of them and said, they must be hot. I said I think they’re cold. He was like, “no way”
If you eat these, is yours hot or cold? I guess cold ground beef sounds… interesting? :joy:

Both are good! If hot you can melt cheese on it. Cold with crunchy lettuce, tomato and lots of mayo! Very versatile.

Interesting! I thought it would be like eating a cold leftover burger :joy:
And I imagine heating would increase moisture by warming up the fat in the loaf. But… I shouldn’t knock it ‘til I try it!!

It could be an acquired taste - I grew up eating them cold. If the loaf is tender enough it’s great, but reheating can make it tough if overdone. It’s a delicate balance!

But… did anyone else hate the part about growing up where you ate cold meatloaf sandwiches? especially as a stinky packed lunch item?

@Salty if you love the little guy… :joy:

Cold! With lots of mayonnaise! I think @RosaCanDo said that too.
I never hardly ate much mayonnaise at all growing up but I always had it on the delicious wonderful cold meatloaf sandwiches!

It’s kind of like leftover lasagna, it’s so good the next day, including pizza and lots of other stuff…

I’m interested in how your husband is going to like it. No it’s not like a cold hamburger. It’s an entity of its own.

@M-be-free49 Doesn’t seem like such a happy memory for you. But I know you have lots of others that are happy!

Cold meatloaf sandwiches are only bad if you made bad meatloaf to start with.

Hey! You puttin’ down my Mom’s meatloaf? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

You know, you might have a point… God love my sweet Mom (thank you @Alisa) but she had some story from when she grew up, some rural farm family all got salmonella. So for the rest of her life she basically cooked any meat to test kitchen specifications or recipe directions or whatever… plus about 8hrs. Post well-done. Beyond dead. Barely chewable.

Don’t get me started about christmas dinner, the house smelled delicious, like turkey and bleach.

Grateful for you, sweet Mama. :orange_heart:
