I went to tea this afternoon with an old friend who has just moved back after eleven years in NY. Lordy, y’all - he and I had some wild times back in the day. Now we are both sober, and we had the best two and a half hour conversation ever. I remember how much I loved him once - now I get to enjoy who he really is in sobriety. Funny how life works…

I like everything, like you, depends on my mood. On a typical day it is folk, rock and classic rock.

Tonight I’m listening to a band called “Radical Face” (it is actually just one guy). It is kind of indie folkish. He tells stories of a family across three albums called the Family Tree. The first being Roots, then Branches and finally Leaves. It’s probably my favorite.

That sounds cool! I will check it out. I listen to music almost constantly, whether at home, in car, or at work. Always looking for new and interesting recommendations.

Come hang out with us! Bring some tea or coffee.

Incidentally, tomorrow I am having a bunch of friends over and everyone has to pick three tracks that they like or holds some meaning for them or they want to share or whatever. We will then listen to them one by one and talk about them. I am excited to see what my friends will come up with and why. :two_hearts:

That’s neat! I might have to do that with my sister’s. I wonder what I’d pick? It would take me a month to ponder that.

But yeah, check out Radical Face. It’s really good stuff, kind of emotional at times, but great story telling.

Awesome. Might you share your three with us some day?

My picks are:

  1. Under Pressure - Queen (with Bowie). - this reminds me of the challenges faced my alcoholics and addicts and my current attempts to think differently and better about how I care about myself and others.
  2. The Other Side - Public Service Broadcasting - this song gives me chills every time I listen to it. It is clips from the Apollo 8 mission control communications to music. It was in my mind this week due to the latest Mars probe.
  3. Chopin - Polonaise in A-flat major, op. 53 “Heroic” - because this is just stunning and sometimes it brings me to tears for no particular reason. I love that it’s so varied and intense.

If anyone cares to, check them out and let me know any thoughts :two_hearts:

The trick, like in many aspects of life, is to not overthink it. :two_hearts:

It’s a cozy night with a cup of ginger lemon tea, my wiener dog & minpin and a good horror flick. Clarity is awesome. My attention span is back. Yay😀. Hope everyone is safe and sober. You’re all amazing.
