This is a volunteer plant from the compost. We tossed gourds and pumpkins in last year so I’m really curious what these cuties will turn into!

Some are ready! Plus our wild cherries. My little guy just put the black raspberries on his Greek yogurt for dessert and said “it’s the best thing ever; my eyes are watering”

How fun! Over the years we have grown potatoes, zucchini and cucumbers from our compost. Always cracks us up. Yours looks very rambunctious!!

I’m trying to train it a bit so it doesn’t take over the hosta nearby and the decorative grass. My husband wanted to know why I was cutting it back! He loves leaving it wild.

I would make sure that you’re googling the exact ant that is out there. I used to have a beautiful Potager And the ants were my biggest problem with it. They were called leaf cutters. Cut ants. I had my dream antique roses out there that they never would let grow. They ate all the Okra one night. They did major devastation and it was a fight. I used tons of orange oil. Boiling water. They had underground tunnels that could go for half a mile to a mile. It was insane. So find out exactly what kind of ant you are dealing with. Little ants usually don’t do much.
Happy little story with your little boy and the berries.

Rosa I can’t believe your herbs! Enjoy!
And a chamomile rake, my goodness.

Ants are one of the big reasons I started growing sunflowers all over in my garden. They are sturdy enough to let the ants & aphids feast the insides hollow while they are significantly less threat to the rest of the garden. Luckily they were never as bad as leafcutters but I was always fighting with them for my tomatoes.

That is so exciting to see, i had one strawberry😅
Next year i will be putting more effort and more plants to grow. But for this year iv done a small bit.
Iv got really lovely heritage cherry tomatoes they taste amazing had 3 ripe ones. Il put pics up when i get some more to show. This year for me was try it see how it goes. I really enjoy it.
Its just a shame my back garden only gets about 4 hours sun where as the tiny front garden has full sun all day until sunset.
But next year il be prepared and hopefully would have made some raised beds so i can really get into it.
I went to my first face to face meeting on sunday at 9am, it was brilliant Ray !! A lady was so kind and helped me feel so welcome along with everyone else there.
So every sunday i will be going and iv been checking out others around me to start going to more. Its been so isolating and lonely for me quitting. Well i was lonely drinking too  but i felt i needed to go for human interaction with like minded people. Had a feeling in my gut to just go so i did.
Have a lovely day :+1:

Checked out the heat damage in the garden this evening (still so hot!) and some things are more affected than others. I’m glad tomorrow is going to be cooler so I can hopefully get some work done.

Basically gave up and let this gourd/pumpkin grow…I don’t have much experience so I don’t know what it is. It’s a compost volunteer. I counted at least 5 that size and several smaller though.

This is a new chile variety for me, Habanada? It’s apparently quite mild but with some of the Habanero flavor. That’s my hope.

I didn’t notice this cucumber before!

And some pretty heirloom tomatoes growing large and in charge.

Yeah, I think we are going to either build a raised bed or till the ground for our garden next year. I’m growing a bit tired of all the pots and some unpredictable growth. Even though we rent this house, the landlord seems open to us gardening.
