Gardening In Recovery

My herb garden has become a pollinator paradise  That dill is strong, though…whenever I walk by it smells like dill pickles out there! :joy:

Morning harvest. I really need to keep a better eye on the green beans - some of this got way too big. The tomatoes fell off in the storm, I’m really hoping they continue ripening inside. I have two seemingly identical tomatillo plants but no, they are different. One turns yellow when ripe and one turns purple!

Is that phlox, Rosa?

No phlox. If you’re talking about the pink flowers, it’s Marvel-of-Peru or 4 o’clock flowers.

Mint harvest to clear the sidewalk. Now I have to do something with it all…

Beautiful!! I like using the mint leaves for smoothies. Also, just pretty in a vase alone or with other cut flowers.

I have never heard of the pink flowers!!! Will check it out…sounds like a perennial here.

I recently tried mint in smoothies for the first time and loved it! I might try a Thai style cold noodle salad with some, also, and other herbs.

A sun tea with mint or just mint water or mint cucumber. Yum!!!

And yes, it’s a perennial. Though how it thrives here I am not sure, but the front of the house is westward facing so that probably helps.

My jungle

First time growing Dancing Smurf tomatoes just for fun. Excited to see how they’ll look when they’re ripe.

Growing pole beans a little differently each year and seeing what I like best. Tall strings this year so far a success but we’ll see once they’re heavy with beans shortly.

The bees are happy with everything blooming

Funny looking zucchini (?) My aunt thinks she saved seeds from a hybrid variety so we’re going to end up with some weird looking produce this year.

Some of the more crazy parts of the garden that I got too tired of waiting for the app to upload for my previous post

My dill shot up and some are nearly as tall as me but they’re falling everywhere. Lots of hidden sage growing between them at the base.

Late start cucumbers after the squirrels ate the first planting. A bit of thyme hidden on the edges underneath.

Hot Hungarian Pepper plant just starting to flower. This is the first year I’m not doing jalapeños and took a chance with these instead.

The other cherry tomatoes

The beefsteak tomatoes I had so neatly staked earlier and outgrown the cages at the bottom

Messy squash, pumpkin, melon, and cabbage corners that I have completely lost track of

Probably going to have to start making apple preserves the next few weeks
